This was Eric's first concert appearance since The Concert for Bangladesh. Organised by Pete Townshend, it got Eric in front of the `Palpitations', which featured a stellar line-up of talent, including Pete, Steve Winwood, Ron Wood, Jim Capaldi and Rick Grech. The LP and original CD had six tracks, but this edition is both expanded and improved in sound quality, so it's worth buying even if you have the earlier version. In an unusual situation, the `bonus' tracks are generally superior, too. Layla sounds great and the rarely performed Bell Bottom Blues is as good, if not as impassioned, as the version on the Layla album. I think this album is absolutely brilliant. Every track is a gem in my opinion and there is a perfect selection. Great value too.

Following DTS's habit of taking an original quad mix and placing it on a DTS encoded CD. This Clapton album as a wonderful old style Quad mix, static instrument placement in four corners, there has been some effort to send some of the base to the Sub woofer in an attempt to make the sound more modern.. This album has some great songs `Sky is crying' and `swing low sweet chariot', and the Quad mix gives another slant on an album. This disc plays in all the DVD players I have had with on board DTS decoding. So enjoy if you can get hold of a copy.

At times intense, at others relaxing, this live, semi-acoustic, jazz-blues album stands in John Mayall's discography as second only to the 'Beno album'. This isn't that loud, messy jazz; this is relaxing and at times even beautiful. The musician's interplay is wonderful, with guitar, flute, saxophone and, of course, mouth organ melodically harmonizing. Mayall's singing is probably the best I have ever heard it, and the atmosphere created is wonderful. Definitely worth the money to any blues fan interested in something slightly left field. It's just unfortunate that we couldn't have been there ourselves.

A band that are quite under-rated, this CD asks the question WHY!!!!! They already sound like one of the greatest bands ever when you hear that they first had Eric Clapton, then Jeff Beck and finally Jimmy Page, and you don't even have to click on the soundbite of New York City. The material ranges from live high-powered R&B to early psychedelic pop. Occaisionly too poppy for Eric Clapton who left due to the popiness of For Your Love, they unfortunately had a member who joined 10CC. They probably started the hard-rock/heavy metal movement, heard in Led Zeppelin who were basically a revised version of the New Yardbirds. The definitive Hendirx cd, brilliantly produced it ranges from low beat blues records such as 'voodoo chile' to upbeat rock records in 'crosstown traffic' to great covers in the form of 'all along the watchtower'. The 'wah-wah' effect on 'voodoo child slight return' is ledgendary and will be remembered until the end of man. The guitar playing on '1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)' is brilliant and really suits the pysecdelic theme of the song.

Jimi is great much like this cd although it doesn't have all along the watchtower and voodoo chile this album does contain purple haze and hey joe aswell as other great tracks worth the price for any hendrix fan. *****

This 1980 live album from Fleetwood Mac comprises some performances recorded five years before and others from the 1979 'Tusk' tour. It is, perhaps, a little eclectic, and will strike more of a chord with the more dedicated fans of the band. Whilst the track listing includes several renowned Mac songs - for instance a powerful rendition of Stevie Nicks' Rhiannon, and energetic versions of Monday Morning and Say You Love Me - there are some 'new' compositions which range from decent to forgettable. Also, at times it would seem that the choice of recordings was rather odd - on Landslide, Nicks is barely audible, and Christine McVie suffers a similar fate on what starts out as a promising rendition of Over My Head. Once in a while you discover an album that is everything you love about guitar driven rock.This album has it all.The twin guitar assault with great tunes recorded live far out do the studio recordings of the the band. Definetly recommended.

This is my all-time favourite Hendrix album. From the opening guitars on All Along the Watchtower to the final death twitches of Jimi's strat on Wild Thing this takes in many of Jimi's must-have recordings. In fact, if I were to run off a string of Hendrix's songs to be included in my desert-island compilation, this CD would be pretty much it. Buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
