This album was a let down. The cover hosts a brilliant, energetic painting of a real stomping shakedown, bodies writhing everywhere. The title 'Cellar Funk' leads one to expect some really rough, tough and frantic funk tunes. All this is a complete mis-sell. What's on this disc is in fact luke warm, misguided jazz/funk very much wanting of talent and inspiration. Sounds harsh but other buyers need to beware that this isn't what it appears to be. For those already into jazz and funk they will find that this is jazz/funk that is neither funky nor is it particularly good jazz either. Jazz-wise, the solos never grab the attention as nothing spectacular is every attempted nor is there any real imagination with the direction or composition ... Read More:

At first listen it is hard to absorb, but give this a couple of plays and you'll be hooked. The simpler jazzy tones give a rawer sound than Galactica Rush, it feels less produced but every bit as funky with the same spine-tingling harmonies. Listen to the lyrics, as Jhelisa seems to have delved a bit deeper for this one.

I have owned this album ever since it first came out and it's still as great as it was back then! It's really great to chill out to or to have playing on a long drive.
