Music : Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines
Ever since I first heard the Zero DB remix of Samba de Gringo (a stunning piece of brazilian electronica) on Suba's Tributo album, I've eagerly anticipated subjecting my eardrums to an album length assault from Zero Db.

This album very much does what it says on the label, a veritable collision of sounds and styles driven by largely uncompromising basslines. If you're into full-on trancy trip/hop interlaced with brazilian percussion and rhythms and jazzy riffs, this is very much for you. Soulive are cracking!
They'll take you and your speakers for a very jazzy walk with their stylishly crisp sound. From track one (which I incidently feel is the strongest on this album) you are transported into a cheeky world of nu-jazz, which effortlessy entwines with the band's persona.
'Soulive' are definitely a zero-negativity band and they manage to encapsulate this charicteristic by exuding good vibes throughout the whole of this wholesomely organic album.
As the name suggests, they will have you believing that you're listening to them 'live' at some jazz festival in Holland on a sunny afternoon. #
Gloriously uptempo; this music represents all that is good about the nu-jazz genre - If you like catchy hooks and funky struts ... Read More:
