Played the first four tracks of this album on the website(I like to know what I'm getting!)and felt this would be a good purchase at £8.99 via Amazon.I've not been disappointed. For those who like their music in the jazzy, upbeat and improvised style, most of the 11 tracks are just the job and although one or two are a little dated, there isn't a bad one where I feel I have to skip. And let's face it,there aren't many albums around that produce no 'bummers' in the content.

Parisienne Girl,Summer's Ended,Wake Up The City,Shine On and Sunburn are funky bliss, and Incognito,The Smile Of A Child,Interference and Why Don't You Believe are a refreshing combination with this.

I look forward to building a back catalogue of this band, one ... Read More:

i was searching for mixes of the classy club hit 'friendly pressure'
and just by looking at the titles of jhelisa's two albums
i guessed she wasn't just a top quality session singer.

i was right.
you will remember this album (and it is a true album) and cuddle it tightly to your breast. her infectious southern bluesy attitude puts me in mind of lots of things but nothing i can quite put my finger on. a singularly individual style (if you'll forgive the tautology).

i am no longer particularly surprised by discovering artists that criminally underexposed. but i have to admit i was surprised that jhelisa is one.

if you love erykah badu, 4hero, and unusual gospel harmonies buy this album. luscious.

I recently dug this out for a re-listen, and must say I don't think its aged particuarly well.
The good points are, you get 15 tracks, with 3 excellent tracks (Dream on Dreamer, Midnight at the Oasis, and Brother Sister), and a consistent sound across all the tracks.

The bad aspect is that I feel that the sound itself has aged, sounding quite overproduced to these 2007 ears, and those three tracks aside, the album has a bit of a sameness to it - not enough stands out.

Only for fans of the acid jazz, funk genre I would say.

This has become one of my favorite albums. I bought it about 10 months ago, and I still keep listening to it. The music has a jazz element mixed with a hip hop tempo, amazing to listen while relaxing or even as a pleasant background music for a party.

Music : The Acid Lounge
Interesting collection of tunes that lean heavily towards acid jazz (for want of a better word)and latin. Although not quite 'uneasy listening' as described on the album cover, most of the compilation is highly accesssible and entertaining with a gentle nod to left field. The Acid lounge goes west, which I purchased at the same time, was, I'm afraid to say a disapointment. Although there were one or two tracks that were excellent, it wasn't worth the money. All in all, if you like your music laid back with a twist of something else! This is well worth taking the plunge.
