This album erases any doubt that I had in my mind that Incognito had finally wandered so far away from what I loved about them in the first place with the rather flat Life Starnger than Fiction, by crashing back into what they do best - taking the very best musicians and vocalists and constructing some of the most beautiful, irresistable jazz/funk/soul music you will ever hear. A return to real instruments and instrumental wizardry brilliantly offset the vocal songs, which at times on the previous album could feel a little shmaltzy and soulless.

Particular standouts include the opener and title track 'Who needs love' with Ed Motta's extraordinary vocal and superb brass, 'Fly' and 'Stone Cold Heart' where the spirit of Barumba's still ... Read More:

I first became acquainted with Four80East when a friend turned me on to Nocturnal. Nocturnal is a landmark work; smart, surreal, funky, dreamy, thoughtful, polished, phenomenal...one could go on almost forever. I've practically burned holes in it from playing it so often. Once I discovered F8E had put out an earlier album I was determined to get it. This was easier said than done, but a copy finally turned up in my mailbox. It really WAS worth the wait. The Album overflows with catchy rhythms, riffs and stellar musicianship. It's kind of hard to categorize F8E's sound. Techno-jazz seems to fit, but it's not the weird, joyless c**p one often associates with this genre. Funky bass lines, cool sax solos, classy piano colorings and monster percussion ... Read More:

Music : Staring at the Sun
If you love your proper Jazz and you love your more progressive dance music, then this album is garenteed to get you very high!

Although very reminisant of "Rainer Truby" and those from the broken-beat "Jazzanova" camp, it has more of a natural landscape feel to it! ......"Shur-i-kan" or "Cinematic Orchestra" are good examples of this.
As the title suggests it is a soundtrack that is very reminisant of staring at the sun, or dancing under the stars - that's why i give it five!

Music : Serve Chilled Vol.2
I admit this is the first Serve Chilled album I buy from the outstanding Hed Kandi series, but I had already tried Nu Cool (1st volume), Beach House (04.03), Stereo Sushi (Wasabi, Sake), Back to Love (03.03) and others.
I must say I didn't know what to expect from this album, but I was defintely very pleased with it: original and truly chilled sounds.

If you're already familiar with other Hed Kandi's compilations, put this one between Nu Cool and Beach House, but don't expect uptempo beats: it's all about soft grooves and relaxing vocals. No house at all.

I find it difficult to highlight the best traks of the compilation, because every track is very particular, but my personal favourite is "Beautiful" without any doubt.

This album is fantastic, I've got all of Hunters main releases and this one is nearing the top.
Compleatly different from all the rest, Hunter does not fail to impress. Songs from the analog of the playground involves Hunter side by side with other artists adding a great edge to the album.
With the likes of Norah Grey, Mos Def, Theryl Clouet and Kurt Elling.
This albums is a must buy for anyone who has heard of Hunter, or for anyone who hasn't!

Solid production, some funky beats and some good modern jazz performances. The extra touch of Hip-hop attitude gives this record the edge that maybe missing in their other records. Some of the rapping may sound a little dated now, but this is the most complete album by Us3. If you're into old school Gang Starr, and the Jazzmatazz records you'll dig this.

100 Degrees and Rising is probably my 2nd favourite CD of all time (after Brand New Heavies' BrotherSister).

This is the Remix CD of that album, and it is a great addition to any Incognito album, or for anyone who wants to get into Incognito.

100 Degrees and Rising is probably their most accessible album, there's a few hits on there, and they're all here too in remix form.

This CD also gives home to the Japanese-only track from 100 Degrees.. Jump To My Love, a very commercial, and catchy Incognito track.

Also present here is Incognito's biggest hit Always There (David Morale Mix), which is a nice addition for anyone who doesn't have it on another CD.

To sum up, if you like Incognito (or jazz funk, ... Read More:
