this Ultimate collection is eactly that, A collection of his ultimate hits. And, having followed and loved him since I was a little girl, this is wonderful. It has all the hits you know, from the discoesque 'copacabana' 'Can't smile without you' 'It's a miracle' qll of them are here....well, almost all thats' where my slight gripe comes in. It's missing 'This one's for you, and 'New York city Rythym tsk tsk. Having said that, the bonus song is wonderful, 'Who needs to dream' from the movie copacabana and a must for any fan.

it is over 11 years since i bought this album. i listened to it a few times with no real hallelujah moments. then it clicked. i listened to the album as a whole, i listened to the album with the lyrics sheet open. and then it became the soundtrack for my summer. the memories associated with this album were brilliant but then so was the music. every track is unique, the lyrics are awesome, yorke's voice has at least 5 styles, the guitar play, cut up drums, soundscape are magical. i listened to the album again yesterday and it prompted this review. you must respect radiohead for not re writing the bends but creating something bigger and better. brilliant, absolutely brilliant

About a month ago I stumbled across "Extreme" after watching a Youtube video featuring "Lil Jack Horny" as background music. After that, I done some more digging & bought their entire collection of CDs... These guys are just awesome and I really wish I'd heard their music sooner. "Saudades De Rock" is a terrific album and is even better when the volume is cranked up real loud. It has echos of "Pornograffiti" in some songs but, it's got a sound all of it's own when you listen more closely. To be completely honest here...it did take me a few listening sessions to really get into it but once I did...I was blown away by the opener "Star"! I remember listening to this when it came out, through earphones, the volume up very high and the lights turned out.....it scared the heck out of me!! Well, I was young and sensitive. Although there is seemingly very little of Miss Jones on this cd, her usual powerful vocal style still penetrates when it appears amongst the stunning effects from Trevor Horn. A couple of the tracks seem a little dated now but altogether still a fantastic collection of tracks, prose and mini-biography, the voice of Ian McShane is still goosepimply-rich and used to great effect. I would think that true Grace Jones fans may be dissappointed with this cd, but I think that if it is the first one that you hear, as it was with me, and it then leads you on to the rest of her ... This is the second in Johann's planned trilogy based on technology and picks up where the truly stunning IBM 1401, A User's Manual (released in 2006) left off. A modern classical masterpiece - I find it inconceivable that anyone would give this less than five stars! Sweeping strings, delightful electronic bursts, soaring harmonies that can't but help yank one's emotions all over the place. Anyone lucky enough to see Joahnn's live gig at the Union Chapel in the summer 2008 will know what a building-shaking, emotion-shattering talent this guy is.

Oh Gilbert! I really want to buy this CD. I love your music, and this seems like a great collection. BUT ... I won't buy it while it has such a tacky title and awful artwork. CDs are meant to bring pleasure to the listener and look great on the rack, but I'd have to hide this one in a dark cellar, as I'd be embarassed to have it on display. Please re-package it, and I promise you I'll be the first to buy a copy.

I simply don't understand why this over-rated album is always held up as the benchmark of Morrissey/The Smiths' greatness. There are only two standout classic tracks on The Queen Is Dead - I Know It's Over and There Is A Light That Never Goes Out. Frankly Mr Shankly is a dire novelty song that sounds like it was written by Gilbert O' Sullivan, Vicar In A Tutu is unlistenably dreadful, Never Had No One Ever and Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others are totally forgettable fillers. Strangeways Here We Come is The Smiths album that stands up best to repeated listening - musically it's more innovative, lyrically it's less contrived. It's an altogether more emotionally and intellectually engaging experience. But for a Morrissey album without one dud ... Read More:

I heard this album, whilst on holiday in Girona (Spain). It is a must buy album. Even if you can't understand Spanish,she has a wonderful voice. It has a contemporary-jazzy sound without losing the traditional Espanic feeling. thanks for readind DaveyT.
