Like a lot of people I was very hesitant as to whether 9 would live up to its predecessor and had to give it a few listens before I could pass judgement. Although in some aspects it is similar to O- "Dogs" possesses an innocence that would fit nicely with Damien's first album- to me it seems a lot more mature and some of the perfect, beautiful lyrics have been replaced with some more realistic and matter-of-fact ones which are actually just as powerful. For example the chorus of Rootless Tree (which involves a lot of swearing) to me is incredibly realistic and almost like a converstaion- "so * you and all we've been through, I said leave it, it's nothing to you, and if you hate me then hate me so good that you can let me out of this hell when ... I listen to Alanis Morissette all the time, i am never disappointed with her music, this is a great CD and i can listen to it whatever mood i am in and it will fit that mood.

The fact that it is over20 years old is testament to the fact this is still selling strong. This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and permenantly stays in the car for periodic stress relief and pleasure time. The album encompasses a variety of music styles and includes the legendary 'You can call me Al'. This has to be one of the all time great tracks. Not only that, this album was responsible for the popularity of Lady Blacksmith Mambazo due to their involvement in the album and tracks such as 'Homeless'. For me this is a must have album, for the simple fact it has tap along tracks along with tracks that calm your soul.

For all its world-conquering success, ABBA Gold didn't really "rehabilitate" ABBA. The casual track sequencing and the choice of only the biggest hits means that a lot of good stuff was missed. The kitsch that dogged the early part of ABBA's career seems to be reinforced. With The Definitive Collection, however, you get (a) all of the tracks that appear on Gold, (b) plus the additional gems that couldn't be included on Gold, and (c) very elegant packaging. Another great plus with this set is that the tracks are sequenced chronologically. If you're a Josh Groban fan you will love it, if you'r new to Josh Groban you're in for a treat. 'You're still you' and 'to where you are' move me to tears every time I listen to them. I could listen to his voice all day (and usually do).

This 3 CD boxset is crammed full of the greatest hits from the best decade of music --- the 80s! It makes for a good introduction for anyone who dosen't already own an 80s comp or just for those who want to relive the music. I wouldn't say that this is the best set to buy on the market, many of the biggest hit singles of the decade haven't been included but all the same, there's enough good songs by some great artists to keep the customer happy. Recommened!

I've heard this record for the first time today,(been on another planet!) and the first thing that struck me about it was how the vocal is so similar to my favourite female singer, the little known (in this country}, HEATHER NOVA. I'm not a fan of much electronic music, and I was particularly irritated by the 'vinyl scratching' that appears in several of the songs, however mainly because of the vocal and the songs that don't involve the scratch I know i'm going to really like this album. If you dont know HEATHER NOVA, do me (and yourself)a favour and go have a listen. If you love Beth Gibbons vocal with 'trip hop' music, you will be blown away by HEATHER NOVA with a live band. I suggest 'oyster' as the first album to try, or 'storm' if you prefer a more mellow sound.

This is one of the better places to go to start listening to the music of Journey. You get a good selection of tracks, which covers their most well known songs and a few others for good measure. The booklet folds out into a poster and the artwork is great. From tracks like 'Don't stop believing' to 'Who's crying now' you know you're on familiar ground and if you like 70's and 80's rock you can't really go wrong. If you want an introduction to this classic rock band then this is the place to go.
