The Cleobury, St John's College recording of Durufle's Requiem is a gem. Unlike other recordings it eschews the operatic and attains a yearning frailty and simplicity entirely in keeping with the work's themes. It remains, for my money, the finest and most moving recording of this composition I have heard.

This CD features a marvellous performance of Guilmant's 1st Symphony, which is in fact an orchestral arrangement of his 1st Organ Sonata. It sounds brilliant here - really exciting -and this is down to the organist, Tracey, and the conductor, Tortellier. The organ of Liverpool Cathedral is one of the biggest in the country, which helps (although I don't think he ever uses full Great -it would be too loud!). In short, an exhilarating listen, even for someone who is not an organ fan. Next, Tracey records Widor's 5th Organ Symphony. As is customary with Tracey's playing, it is technically flawless, but somehow I don't think the organ really suits the work. It's just slightly too English. The CD ends with a recording of ... I'm reviewing the concerto champetre. Trevor Pinnock shows he is a master of music, and not just baroque music. His playing is full of joy and understanding. I must mention the orchestra (Boston Symphony) and conductor (Seiji Ozawa) are brilliant, in full sync with his playing. This is especially noticable during the many echo passages and abrupt changing of tempo in the first movement. He works very well with the orchestra and technically, his playing is flawless. Considering this is a live recording (from 1992), that is even more impressive than usual. He plays a 3-manual harpsichord (a copy of a very late 18th century one) which may seem a bit odd considering this was written for the 'revival' harpsichord, but it has all the stops and range ... Everytime I listen to this I go straight back three years when I saw it in Southampton and was utterly carried away. Beauty and the Beast is one of the best disney classics and the best musical it has ever animated. It translated fantasically into a theatrical production and they could add a lot more to this medium. Many of the songs are different from the animation and they don't spoil it - they fit in perfectly with the rest of it. It is worth most definatly buying this album as well as the soundtrack to the movie. It has a very different perspective to the story, a great way of celebrating and reliving both the movie and the play.

Everytime I listen to this I go straight back three years when I saw it in Southampton and was utterly carried away. Beauty and the Beast is one of the best disney classics and the best musical it has ever animated. It translated fantasically into a theatrical production and they could add a lot more to this medium. Many of the songs are different from the animation and they don't spoil it - they fit in perfectly with the rest of it. It is worth most definatly buying this album as well as the soundtrack to the movie. This CD has entertained us more times than I can count. There is a good mix of tempo and although the songs are obviously sung by the Tweenies it is not irritating. Favorite track 'I like Bananas' by Jakie, close second 'Best Friends for Ever'. Only criticism is not enough input from Doodles!

The songs & music is really good. My daughter loves it! Children loves the songs sand by other children, no matter if they are American, or British or any other nation. The only reason for a 4 star is that it is too many of the same tune, which creates loss of interest by the ends.

Barney's Favourites has given my Autistic son years of enjoyment. Barney is good, positive, teaches children how to be thoughtful, kind and how to have good manners. His tunes are catchy and the words are easily understood. Any child who enjoys the Barney videos will love this cd and any of his others, he opens up their imaginations!!!
