What a great album this is. After the moody, atmospheric soundscapes they had made in their early days, Tangerine Dream had tapped into accessibility a little bit with their 'Ricochet' platter. With 'Stratosfear', the band had released a record that at times keeps to the tried and tested formulas of mellotrons and sequencers etc, but the difference between this album and others is that there is so much more to offer musically. The group play like a band and introduce acoustic and electric guitars as well as plenty of percussion. There are also so much more melodies and genuinely memorable tunes.
The title track is a swashbuckling piece with a memorable theme, and still stands the test of time as one of Tangerine Dream's most enduring and ... Read More:

THE best Slowdive album. Way ahead of it's time. Some of it reminds me of Talk Talk, some of Labradford! Absolutely stunning it's an overlooked classic.

104.Chill Out by: KLF

Music : Chill Out
The KLF are best remembered for "What Time Is Love?" & their media pranks. This album is just a pure joy to listen to, recorded in a minimalist way. The music is almost background music to Drummond & Cauty's soundscape of rivers, trains, sheep, planes, cars, mad preachers, and everyday sounds that you hear but never takes notice of, but on this album you do. If you can't sleep at night, put this album on in the dark and you begin to imagine you are on a journey around distant lands. The KLF also used samples from Elvis Presley, Fleetwood Mac, Acker Bilk, Jesus Loves You (aka Boy George). Some stripped down versions of some KLF classics are here too, although retitled, along with what has to be the most impressive track the KLF ever recorded ... Read More:

Guys, this is not for the faint-hearted.
If you are young enough to have never spent your precious time listening to NEW AGE music, then don't start now!
Boring. Not for the future. There are tons and tons of this sort of music hidden away in closets or under beds..

No not me but my mate who has literally 1000s of items on Japan and Sylvian and even the bands who ex Japans played on.
What's missing here though is Some small hope-a duet with Virginia Astley which in keeping with her music is now pretty rare.
Much of his music is uncommercial and the first Japan album Adolescent Sex is virtually unlistenable for me.
Which is why I prefer his few covers. All tomorrow's parties is the greatest and his version of I second that emotions indicates that Sylvian should have done an entire album of Motown covers.
In the States neither he nor Japan troubled the Top 100 and are seen as Cults.Maybe hard to figure out as the stuff he did with Riuchi Sakamoto is top class
His last album-Blemish- not even ... Read More:

I've only just got round to buying 10'000HZ Legend, but I'm so glad I did.
This album is a slight departure from Moon Safari. This is more experimental, darker, and somewhat inconsistent in places. Therefore; in my opinion; not every track works. However, the ones that do - work extremely well and there are some great moments here.

"Electronic Performers" opens the album well, it's a Kraftwerk-esque electronic bleeps and beats with electronically processed vocals. But for me; by far the best track on the album; is "How does it make you feel?". This "pink floyd-ish" track drifts in beautifully, with wonderful lyrics giving a sense of bleak loneliness.

As I said before, there are some awesome moments here, but there are some dodgy ... Read More:

Harold Budd's c.d.'s these days are collaborations, FRAGMENTS FROM THE INSIDE is the best of the bunch. The recent two Guthrie/Budd c.d.'s were very disappointing. This release with Clive Wright is spoilt by Wright's refusal to back down i.e. he overplays and doesn't know when to lay back and let Harold take a turn, especially on the long first track. It's the same old ambient guitar doodles you have heard a thousand times, infinite, delayed stuff that really grates after a while..think of Michael Brook and you get the idea. Come on Harold lets have a proper AMBIENT release again, I speak as a long-time fan who feels let down by every recent release. This is NOT essential Budd believe me.

I must admit the first song I heard from Orbital was Halcyon + On + On, which still remians my favourite Orbital song (despite this being the only Orbital CD I own - they are very hard to find in Australia).

The first truly great track is Planet Of The Shapes, which seems to be all about maths and physics, which is fine for me because I do have an advanced degree in science (soon). Lush 3-1 and Lush 3-2 retain the high quiality of the previous tracks, but as stated earlier Halcyon + On + On is the best track on offer. It begins very light and atmospheric, but it takes you to another dimention when the bass enters, and is simply the best techno song ever, not that it defines the gener by any means.

Highly recommended for anybody
