I bought the CD for the track Dyonisus which features in the Gangs of New York CD (which I strongly recommend as well!)& I wasn't disappointed. The music is very unusual and soothing, I love to listen to it after a hard day at work, I think it works well as a background music too, and it will definitely be a talking point if you play it while you have some guests! Thumbs up for this brilliant music!

I have to say the same as a previous reviewer. this album is not to be used as background music. it requires you to sit down with the intent to do nothing but listen. im not sure how i discovered M83 but im glad i did. this album will create all sorts of visions in your head as you listen. perhaps best used on a long train journey, as you look out the window the music just seems to match somehow. fully worth a purchase.

Well, I think the Cocteau Twins were a great band and as for Harold Budd, I could listen to his lullaby piano for the rest of my life. However, I've never really thought of this, a one-off collaboration from 1986, as a successful meeting of minds. The problem is that what you have here, effectively, are two separate mini-albums spliced together. Half the tracks sound like pretty much everything else the Cocteau Twins were doing in the mid-eighties, except that if you listen carefully you can just about hear a piano desperately trying to make itself heard above the noise; and the other half of the album sounds, basically, like Harold Budd's solo work from the same period. The Orbs' Adventures.. The KLF's White Room The KLF's (The JAMMS) Chillout Orbital's Brown Album The Prodigy's Experience are the only albums that stood out for me from the late 80's/early 90's drug fueled, carefree, acid/warehouse illegal rave days, sadly those days are long gone for me but these albums will always be around to celebrate that loved up generation that lasted for 5 years. As for the album it's good and stuff (its all been written in the other more intelligent reviews)

This is an Excellent value compilation. Less than six quid for twenty four tracks. There is a good selection of drum and bass a bit of dub step some ambience, techno and at least one track of grime which I enjoyed. It seems a very underground compilation as I had not heard of any of the artists on this album. Excuse my ignorance if they are better known. Overall I would recommend this album to anyone who is looking for something abit experimental and less comercial in the above types of dance music I mentioned.

A legendary EP to many, and perhaps understandably so when you factor in the immense following the previous album has gained over the years. Released two years later, In a Beautiful Place out in the Country is Michael & Marcus Sandison at their most streamlined and condensed. By getting rid of the shorter tracks they definitely lose something crucial, but it's quite refreshing to hear an EP this focused yet still managing to contain the magic that gained them their reputation in the first place.

I'm amazed that this CD has only had one review, as this is a great compilation. To me this vol 3 along with vol 7 is the best of the cafe del mar series. Easy listening and a harmonious mix with some piano music a la cafe style, some light techno, a few dance tracks, some ambient and some jazzy tunes. Uplifting and worth listening to.

Having always been a fan of Moby's earlier productions, it was nice to see he's best of album getting the remixed treatment, to bring it bang up to date with today's sounds. And it's a good job. The remixes in question really do vary, and will satisfy many fans of different genres. Whether it the trance sound of Ferry Corsten, or the housier sound of Mylo and Sandy Rivera, there really is something for everyone.

How do you classify or put into words music that you can connect to physically and mentally rather than just audibly.Like nothing else I have heard, this album literally takes you to higher state of consciousness, relaxation and wellbeing, keeping you completely engaged and enthralled whilst leading you on a spiritual journey, or more, a path of self discovery! I bought the cassette tape in 1985 and after finally getting hold of the CD 20 years later I realised that this album is not just a part of my collection but more a part of me. I cannot rate this album highly enough. If you have ever truly 'contemplated' anything in life then this music is for you.
