After recently moving house i stumbled my old CD collection, and tunes from my single days. I simply felt compelled to write a review about this perfect CD. I bought this CD during my last 'lads holiday' in Zante 2001. When i play this CD it takes me back to those hot nights, about 5am in the morning after 'living it large' and enjoying every minute of the best days of my life. Drifting into a relaxed state of tranquility as i play this CD in the darkness of the hot apartment, i take a deep breath in and out as i close my eyes and smile at the night's madness. Good old Amazon has done it again! I am a huge fan of both Deep Forest and Enigma and after having written a couple of reviews for them, every time I logged on Amazon would recommend Era to me and encouraged by the positive reviews of this album I decided to go ahead and order a copy. Well, that was 2 weeks ago and it has not left my car CD player yet (and I drive more than 500 miles a week). Era, for people like me who had never come across them before, is a blend of choir and rock (may sound bizzare but it really works) and the result is one of the most gentle, haunting, soothing and powerful CD's I have the pleasure of owning. Angugama uses the didgeridoo and a drum beat, along with the sounds of nature, and synchronization with certain brain wave patterns, to clear the emotions and help focus the mind and heart on these beautiful sounds. I agree with the previous reviwer. Emma's voice is strained beyond endurance. The real shame is that it's a pleasant enough voice but the pitch of the music is just too high and she really struggles to reach some notes. The tessitura gives her considerable trouble. Some of the music is just gorgeous and one regrets that it wasn't transposed down an octave. I can only listen to three tracks consecutively before I want to punch someone.
