The opening track is the one used in British TV advertising for the album (and if I remember rightly, it became a single) so it has a "head start", I immediately liked it and the track which followed. The rest of the album is very relaxed but the smorgasboard approach means that overall I enjoy the previous album a lot more. Perhaps if I'd bought it when it was brand new I would like it more but respect to Zero 7 for getting to their third album and nearly 10 years, on a dance level they're getting close to M-People's Longevity.

Set phasers to stun and fasten your seatbelts. Psychonauts stand by!!! This is a classic album and I think one of the defining soundtracks of modern club life. A staple survival tool for late night/early dawns.

The fledgling Virgin label signed two important German bands in the early 70s: Faust and Tangerine Dream. First, they released The Faust Tapes album, a collection of studio experiments and outtakes, in a Bridget Riley sleeve for only 50p (the price of a single in those days: very tempting to a schoolboy prog-rocker, I can tell you). Then along came Phaedra. Both showed aspects of so-called "krautrock" that were very different to the melodic pop of Kraftwerk, who were enjoying their 15 minutes of fame at that time courtesy of their "Autobahn" single riding high in the charts. Ricochet is the so called live album following Tangerine Dream's tour of 1975. By then, the band had enjoyed considerable success here in the UK with their previous two albums 'Phaedra' and 'Rubycon' which had made the top ten and top twenty respectively over here. The music on 'Ricochet' is previously unreleased music, specially written for the tour, so this is by no means a live 'greatest hits' package. The way the album is put together is nothing like a live package, so you have to view 'Ricochet' almost as a studio album. I'm not even convinced that this music was recorded exclusively live. Imagine If Jean Michel Jarre really had the funk gene or was more interested in partying than chilling out then I think Where You Go I Go Too is a credible approximation of what he would sound like. Lindstrøm is the sobriquet of Norwegian producer Hans-Peter Lindstrøm and he has remixed work by artists as diverse as Franz Ferdinand , Roxy Music , Imagination and LCD Soundsystem but on this album he creates three tracks covering 55 minutes of what has been dubbed space disco. I can see why too as there is definite groove to this music . It is gloriously fluid with gyrating flights of fancy but with a rhythmic under pulse that keeps its metaphorical feet glued to the ( no doubt chrome and glass) dance floor. Talk talk, Human League, Soft Cell, Tubeway Army and OK more up to date Air. They are all in here and you won't listen to a more catchy and wistful album all year. However by the end you may well have had enough so lose astar for that, but I hate to say it this could be equally well received at a thirteen year old girl's birthday party or at a middle aged dinner party. Go figure!

Words fail me - which is perhaps not the best way to begin a review. . . . this album is simply too good to adequately summarise - but I'll try and fill you in on one of the best kept secrets in my music collection. Schnauss' music has a timeless quality which takes it well beyond the stereotypical image of the "electronic" genre. I feel this is his strongest and most listenable album to date. If you like the kind of music that lets you totally unwind, but at the same time stretches your imagination; this album is a must for your collection. It's thought provoking, emotional, ethereal, soothing, cool and eminently listenable whatever mood or scenario you're in at the time.. This is the greatest album of the 1970's, the album that introduced ambient music to the world,confirmed Eno's genius, and inspired Bowie to make his 'Berlin' albums.Only five of the songs contain vocals. The opening song is an avant garde cracker that pulls us dramatically into Eno's pioneering sonic landscape. AGW'S mood is by turns reflective (St Elmo's Fire),elegiac (Golden hours), serene (the title song,The Big Ship, Becalmed, Zawinul/Lava), sombre (In Dark Trees,Spirits drifting) romantic,(I'll come running, Everything merges with the night) and adventurous (Sky saw,Over fire island) And Little Fishes is sublimely odd. I have four musicians that I look out for Mike Oldfield Vangelis J.M.J and terry Oldfield Vangelis comes a quality second and In my view compilations are the best way to listen to Vangelis . The reason being that he can make some really good music but in the full albums that I have bought I have not been totally pleased, do not get me wrong there is some brilliant music on all the albums I own of Vangelis but also some dull music as well. This one has the best from a collection of his work and it shows his versatility and different styles he has It may even prompt you to check out some of the albums that the music has been taken from I have and bought albums because of tracks on this album.
