I am a little perplexed by the Amazon Reviewer on a number of issues. Firstly, I presume the reviewer means "Push the Limits" not "Push Out the Limits." Hardly bodes well for a review if the reviewer can't even be bothered to pick up the CD case to check he (she) knows what he (she) is talking about! Secondly, as has already been mentioned, anything worth doing in music has already been done - nothing these days is even remotely original. Thirdly, it is deeply unfair, not mention wholly untrue, to describe ambient music as not having any "beat." There's plenty of rhythm and beat in Engima's music, this album included. This is not just my favourite Porcupine Tree album but i would go as far as saying that as far as progressive, ambient, atmospheric, chill out music is concerened it is the best! A beautiful and inspiring album!

How can i put what i feel about this CD into words? i am absolutely spellbound!! i have never heard anything of the likes of this. by far the best CD i have ever bought, Rumi's poetry itself is beyond this world, but the music and instruments used in this CD are perfect to accompany such sweet words of Rumi's love for God. I first heard "Rainbow" in a radiocast around 1973. Second time was 6 years later, at school. And third time was in 1987, also in a radiocast. Now I have bought the CD. The morale of this small story is that the music is something that is not heard often, but that it for some shapes the future. It was the first electronic piece that I know that I have heard (excluding "popcorn") and it was a direct inspirator for listening in to some even more advanced pieces of music. I call the music ambient - and that is true, as the music is flowing and intonating with a form but without a solid theme. "Rainbow" is not trance music, but more demanding. What a great album! I shant harp on forever as tehre are plently of other reviews, but this really is brilliant. I only wish I could find other music to match this!

Since "Premiers Symptomes" means "first symptoms," it's appropriate that it's the name of Air's collection of early singles. This French duo created a warm sweep of electronica that sounded like a complete , which is only marred by two funky, rather awkward songs pasted on to the end. "Modular Mix" kicks it off -- a dreamy song that sounds like the soundtrack for an underwater movie. "Casanova 70" and the languid "Les Professionals" add a lounge-y sound. And "J'Ai Dormi Sous L'Eau" and "Le Soleil Est Près de Moi" are sweet and slow , almost like a pair of trip-hop lullabies. I bought this album under the premise I was going to be entertained and discover a music style that would uplift and make me feel warm inside. Instead I discovered an album I would not even recommend to my worst enemy. This album has zero musical quality and has been put together in such an ad hoc fashion that it is impossible to give it any creative merit. Avoid and steer your self towards other bands that actually have some talent.

I'd passed up the opportunity to buy a mint original vinyl copy of this some years ago since it was silly money but I regret it now. After all the reviews saying that Zeit was "difficult" at the very least I was therefore surprised to find an eminently listenable 75 minute trip which was so intoxicating I played it all over again immediately. You're either wired up to go with this or you're not, my only advice would be if you buy it and it leaves you nonplussed then you need to get out more. Out there that is!

Tired Sounds... was my first intro to SOTL, and I loved it. Refinement... retains many of the aims, but is more instrumental, more melodic, and contains less purely drone-type pieces. It is therefore still hauntingly beautiful while being slightly more intriguing. I do not know where I would be without SOTL. I am so, so sad I missed them live in England earlier in 2008. Please come again Adam & Brian, please.
