I bought this largely on the basis of the other reviewers comments. It is better than I expected. A wonderful survey.

This album is simply amazing. I thought that the main review on here actually seemed to be questioning Anoushka's abilities. Much like her father Ravi, she is very skilled and talented in traditional Indian music, and has a great understanding of what we call Contemporary music. This is what 'Rise' is, it is a beautiful melding of the two styles together, mixing the traditional with the contemporary. All of the songs on here are exemplary in every way. The composition and the performances are better than a lot of modern contemporary artists, who could learn a thing or two about arrangement, performance, and composition from this. This is a great album for belly dancers, I wouldn't go as far as saying that all the tracks are fantastic but not far from it, I recognized lots of Egyptian rythms such as the Saidi for example. If you are a belly dancer then you must know how difficult it is to get a good compilation, very often they don't have anything to do with traditional belly dancing tracks, more often it is techno or rai, this one is the exception, I definitely recommend it.
