I am a fan of talking books, and I would describe many of the ones that I have heard as good, entertaining, thought provoking even. But this collection of stories stands so far above everything else that I have listened to that I can't see them ever being eclipsed. They are that very rare thing in literature - something that is brilliant, complex, moving - but absolutely not worthy, or 'difficult'. How many of us have struggled through a Booker prize winner because we 'ought to', when really it was too much like hard work? These stories are just so entertaining. What's the first thing thing that comes to your mind when you hear the album title? Da Da Da Duu. DAH DAH DAH... The haunting theme tune is now a popular ringtone..shows the lasting value in a time of ever changing tastes and technology. The rest of the album stands out especially Story of A Soldier.

Two old blokes swear a lot. You certainly need to brace yourself for this, it is truely disgusting but also funny and liberating. There is no check on political correctness but on the other hand they do not pick on anyone or group in particular, everybody gets it without prejudice. You will certainly cringe at some point but you may also find yourself laughing

I wanted to replace my old vinyl copy of the RHPS and could only find this version online at the time, so I bought it. I does have a couple of extra songs that my vinyl copy didn't, but it ALSO has dialogue running into each track which I find very irritating when all I want to do is listen to the music. If this doesn't bother you, then this is a great, comprehensive album. If it does, buy the other version now available at Amazon.

I was a fan of the original radio series of HHGTTG and I was delighted to discover these CDs. This is a great follow-on from the first series, with even more sublimely outrageous scenarios as Zaphod survives the Total Perspective Vortex and Arthur discovers the remains of a civilisation based entirely on shoe-shops. There is no better way to pass a long car jorney - my kids love these CDs, and you can listen to them again and again. When Rula Lenska appeared on Celebrity Big Brother my boys knew exactly who she was - Lintilla (and her millions of clones). Luckily for Rula there was no Allitnil in the CBB house or she would have been neutralised instantly.......

If you haven't yet seen this show but have a good sense of humour and loved watching Sesame Street, then I think you'd love Avenue Q. It is a different type of musical involving muppets with live actors on stage (who are not all dressed in black to avoid being seen). This may sound silly but it is pulled off very well since the muppets actions and expressions are duplicated by the live actor controlling them. The performance can be 'Cras' in places but if you've got a good sense of humour you should be laughing throughout. If you've seen the musical this soundtrack CD should bring back very good memories. Probably some of my favourites are 'It sucks to be me' and 'the internet is for Porn' as well as 'there's a fine, fine line'. In some ways i wish they could produce ... Read More:

I was initially disappointed when I played the first track and noticed on the cover'original motion picture score'but I thought that I would give it a listen and its stunning, so if the original soundtrack is better than this then I'm a dutchman.

After getting the KiDULTHOOD soundtrack, I wasnt expecting this one to be much better as in the first one some of the songs are just bits people say in the movie. But this one is brilliant. All the tracks are perfectly fitted with the movie. And are of a brilliant standard featuring tracks from Sway, Wiley and Bashy. Especially the Kidulthood to Adulthood track. That is amazing.

the reviews next to the item I purchased are not applicable to this disc. There is no original soundtrack and Robin Williams is not on it nor are most of the original songs!

This album has has never been far away from my CD player since it was released around 23 years ago. The music surprised a lot of people at the time because it wasn't completely representative of the Abba style. In the theatre the music is completely overwhelming. I managed to see the production 3 times, twice with the original cast and that is why I would recommend this recording above all others. Some of the players are different but the American, Russian & Florence were as heard on the CD's. The Swedish touring version mentioned further down is excellent, in that it includes the ending as we knew it & other bits and pieces. Still vocally this is the superior version and no one has sung Florence better than Elaine Paige. A pity it wasn't recorded again in full after they had done their stint ... Read More:
