This is a pretty predictable soundtrack for Bridget Jones 2, mixing the usual smoothie suspects (Barry White, 10cc, Carly Simon) with contemporary chart toppers (Jamelia, Kylie Minogue, Beyonce). And yet there are some spectacular new recordings, in particular Amy Winehouse's superb, emotive cover of "Will you still love me tomorrow" - something to savour amidst the absence of any new material from her. Rufus Wainwright sings one of his mother's songs beautifully (although Dido sounds like she's reading out a menu in her self-conscious solo). And with "Misunderstood" Robbie Williams provides a surprisingly good confessional ("Trying to be misunderstood / Just a product of my childhood..."). I have Condidence that nobody can call themselves a true affectionado of Sound of Music without this CD. It contains the original 16 pieces from the film, beautifully sung by Maria, the Captain, the Children and the Chorus, plus eleven bonus tracks that make this CD even more of "something good", wiht exetended music, additional verses and esxtra soundtrack used on the film. Rodger and Hammerstein outdo any other musical ever written herein, and this CD is worth every penny.

Sorry, but if this is supposed to be the official movie soundtrack then why isn't the title track here? I have the soundtracks to all 21 Bond films (to date) and as much as I'm a fan, leaving out the title track seriously undermines this CD as an official product to back up the film. 1 star only I'm afraid.

I bought this cd because I liked track number 10 "Dice" when I heard it played on the OC tv programme, though I can't say that I'll remember anything on this cd apart from "Dice" in ten years time.And I found that I got fed up listening to this cd after a few days - the music sounds old-fashioned (reminds me of the 1960s for some reason),the guitar music was awful on some tracks - no clear individual notes or chords (these dudes and dudettes aren't Mark Knopfler playing Sultans of Swing or Romeo and Juliette,for example).If this is the best mix from the OC I would advise people to steer clear of the others.And don't let the poor quality of the music on this cd detract you from buying the dvds of the tv programme which is as good as people say it is. Program's cool, so is the OST. I love the theme at the end, and Missy's hot boy's rocks! Moloko is brilliant and the rest are pretty good too ~ you won't stop plying it!

What a wonderful and uplifting album. I saw only a handful of 'The Tudors' episodes on TV but was captivated by the opening theme-tune. I decided to take a chance and purchase the soundtrack CD because of, partly, the other reviews and also the wonderfully cheap price some Marketplace seller's were advertising. The score is terrific, with haunting melodies and sweeping flute's - very in keeping with the music featured in 'The Lord of the Rings' series. I personally found myself getting caught up in the music (and drama!) of the rising tunes. Highly recommend - even if not a fan of the series (as I wasn't) because I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Most of the classical songs are great sung very well by talented singers, but don't expect the original artists from the stage shows as they're not on there. Some of the more modern songs weren't so great and We Will Rock You was played like a fanfare for HRH the Queen, that was a real let down, no hand clapping or headbanging, there are more electric guitars in Phantom!!! If like orchestras this is for you, if you want songs from original cast members don't bother.

I was surprised when I first listened to this tape. I was expecting a traditional Agatha Christie type format in the manner I was used to hearing. The three stories have been very much updated in terms of the setting of the stories and the language and general setting of the plots. This does not in any way detract from the enjoyment, rather it enhances the quality of the tales, indicating that the original format transfers very easily to a more up to date setting. The acting in all the stories is excellent, and the plots take a very interesting and unexpected turn, particularly towards the end, which is of course what one would expect from the author. I was initially disappointed when I played the first track and noticed on the cover'original motion picture score'but I thought that I would give it a listen and its stunning, so if the original soundtrack is better than this then I'm a dutchman.

If your first introduction to Evita was via the film then this is definately the disk for you. The recording of the original stage productions are excellent for what they are, but in comparison to Madonna's performance Elaine Paige seems harsh and over bearing. Plus the performances by Antonio Banderas and co are a pleasant revelation. Jimmy Nail is supreme as always, and his understated presentation of Megaldi is actually one of the shining performances of the whole production. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a big Madonna fan and I certainly don't rate her as a actress, but this may just be the finest performance of her career.
