I think the title ive chosen to head my review says it all.Xanadu the album(ELOs contributions only)is more of what we've come to expect from the greatest band of all time.The other songs on the album vary in quality between not bad and down right awful.DO NOT!!!! buy this album then think to yourself"He's full of it,these songs are great,im buying the film"cos this atitude will only leave you however many pounds,dollars whatever lighter in the pocket and have taken up 90 minutes of you.re life you'll never get back.so In conclusion get the album,dont follow this up by seeing the movie.

First I must congratulate myself on a thoughtful and rather clever title. Not mine I hasten to add! Like a lot of Bob Dylan lines you'll find one to fit practically any given situation. Try it out. It's quite bizarre. That's the greatness of 'His Bobness' though. Already I digress. Back to the rekkerd - as our American friends say. This is truly awful. Why anyone thinks this is good stuff is beyond me. And I'm 6ft 2ins!! They all sound like bad impersonations of bad impersonations of Bob. And believe me, they are!! Listen people - I'm a Bob afficianado, and when I hear these dire warblings (Going to Acapulco an exception for some reason I can't explain) I feel very very depressed. I bought this album after a search as basically I could not get the theme music out of my head after 40 plus years. The haunting themes remain one of the great TV programme soundtracks. They were never obtrusive but added to the atmosphere to a stupendous series. Much recommended to all 40 somethings and makes this reviewer wish for the simpler life and entertainment we had in those halcyon days of the 60's and 70's

Saturday Night Fever was a phenomenon at the time of its release. The film and its soundtrack remain classic works. As well as the big hits from the movie there are a number of lesser known tracks here which featured in the film. If you're heading out after a hard working week put this album on, turn it up, open a drink and let the good times roll.

The music's fine - the Ludovico Einaudi instrumental tracks particularly - but why, oh why, are there five dialogue tracks on this CD? You don't want to listen to them time after time!!! Also the listing as on this site when I bought the CD is wrong - there are only 24 tracks not 26 as shown - these two are missing: 17. Elgar: Pomp And Circumstance March No.1 In D Major + 19. Maggie Gave A Thistle - and the order of the others differs somewhat...

I have to say that my preference would be for the "Original London Cast" recording which is sadly no longer available to the Film Soundtrack version. Although the 'London Cast' album is only a single album and therefore only contains half the songs, the instrumentation seems crisper and tighter and generally speaking, the vocal performances are better. The lovely Dana Gillespie as Mary Magdalene is unbeatable and even Paul Nicholas (yes, he also featured in the original stage recording) puts in a fairly good performance too, though admittedly probably tries a bit too hard to put on a theatrical voice. If you know anybody who has a copy of the original 1972 album (and providing they still have a turntable), listen to "Trial Before Pilate" and compare it to the ... Read More:

This has to be the most beautiful piece of music i've ever heard, and every time i listen it never fails to reduce me to tears! As the previous reviewer states, parts of it are taken from the great Rachmaninov's Paganini Rhapsody, and it truly touches your soul. There's nothing better than putting it in the old CD player, sitting on the sofa on a cold sunday afternoon with a blanket, a nice glass (or two) of wine, some chocolate and a box of tissues....turn the volume up and just lose yourself in its haunting melody. Utterly priceless. Enjoy :)

When I listen to this cd, and close my eyes, I can see Ally and all the others dancing in their place! Vonda is sitting by the piano, playing, and I feel kind'a like Ally McBeal, feeling either very happy, or very sad(depending on the song)! And I think there are so many beautyful songs, that can make you either laugh or cry, and I love that! I think it's a great cd! Good job Vonda! Love, Julie S.

This cast recording has Jason Donovan as Joseph and is none the worse for it. Those familiar with Donovan's chart hits might be surprised with how good his performance is here. Linzi Hateley is superb as the narrator and the rest of the cast ably support her. This collection comes with a booklet with all the lyrics which is great if you're the sort who likes to sing along! So, if you enjoy musicals and particularly if you're watching the current search for a Joseph, this is the CD for you!
