I rented this film first and bought it because I loved it so much. One of the best films I have ever seen! If you're not very romantic or you're a grown up who has lost your magic - then you probably won't like this film ;)

This is the best of Thomas. His affinity with the Welsh, his love of language, particularly their language, his melancholy and his air of delightfully mischievous humour just permeate this work through and through. This was originally written to be heard, as a play for voices, i.e. radio. Reading it, however wonderful, and it is, is never going to replace the joy of listening to it, or seeing it in production. The play brings out the musical quality and the joyous rhythm of the words, and I would recommend using the book as a companion piece to the radio play, which is also available to buy. Having watched a production of Annie with my pet mouse, I was pursuaded to buy the CD for him. He loves it! He's constantly listening to the album and has made himself a wig out of the wax that covers edam cheese. He's even started eating less cheese so that he can feel more like an orphan. My only worry is that he now has a love of dogs and being a mouse, this is potentially hazardous. This is why I have only awarded four stars, but if you asked him, he'd give it five . . . and a half if that was possible.

I originally bought this CD when the film was out and then lost it and bought again recently having seen the stage production. Being a great fan of both Madonna and Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals it was the best combination for me. I totally disagree with all of those reviews that slate Madonna, and feel that it is a little bit of musical snobbery going on. Madonna adds a little bit of theatre to the songs and takes your mind right back on stage with them. Yes Elaine Paige was also fantastic but how clever of Mr Lloyd Webber to open his audience to the popular culture by using an established pop star known to the masses. I haven't been a big motion soundtrack album kinda guy. Usually where i like the movie, I find some movie albums have a few good songs along with some 'filler' rubbish in between. From the rebelius first tracks of 'Crush'and 'Local God', to the chilled 'Angel' and then on to the fantastic moving ballad by Des'ree and of course the great and catchy 'Lovefool'. This album takes you through the rebel, the party, the confusion, the care-free, the poignancy and leaves you contented at the end with 'you and me'. Classic soundtrack. This album has everything. Kenny Loggins establishes himself as the master of powerful, catchy 80s cheese with the immense Danger Zone and fun-as-you-like Playing With The Boys. Berlin's Take My Breath Away is possibly THE greatest ballad of all time. Harold Faltermeyer's Top Gun Anthem is about as moving a piece of music can be. A must have.

Program's cool, so is the OST. I love the theme at the end, and Missy's hot boy's rocks! Moloko is brilliant and the rest are pretty good too ~ you won't stop plying it!
