What a class act this man is! a fantastic kalaidascopic cornacopia of a rollercoaster into the smoky realms of Jazztopia! with a cherry on top! I recommend this cd to everyone who has yet to worship at altar of Acker in the church of Bilk!. What people also don't realise is that Acker is also a greco roman wrestling champion at several different weights but gave up to concentrate solely on music, for that we should be gratefull my friends! also a special mention to Chris Barton who plays baritone on several of these tracks and is a very underated musician in his own right. If you like Acker I recommend you try Chris Barton's album " When Sally met Chris, the Stable sessions ". A modern jazz classic!

..is the only word for this album. I have never heard such a pure voice - you may have heard the songs before but you have never heard them sung like this. Eva's voice was unique - how very sad that the only video in existence of her singing is some amatuer footage taken at Blues Alley - where some of these tracks were recorded. If you can listen to "Autumn Leaves" without a lump in your throat - then you have no soul my friend.

In the fifties, two very different groups began their careers but both were slow to really hit their stride - an American R+B group (generally known in Britain as the Detroit Spinners) and a British folk group, who are the subject of this review. Neither group challenged the other's right to use the name (as usually happens in such cases) so each is known as the Spinners in their home country. I have all of Bocelli's CDs and for me this ranks number 1, followed closely by Cieli di Toscana. As with most of his works, the first time of hearing doesn't have too great an impact but the music grows on you. I will be humming a tune during the day and wonder what is that? Then I remember that it's off the Sogno album or Cieli di Toscana album. I then cannot wait to get home so that I can play the cd again. His voice is great, the tunes are melodious and the overall production superb. Highly recommended.

I Love Christmas Music & have been collecting various albums on this theme for years & this album has got to be one of the most sentimental & warming albums ever produced on this theme. The album I had was on Tape & has long since worn out but I've since been trying to replace it. If you get the chance to get hold of this album I strongly recommend that you do so.

Russell Watson is not an opera singer but a pop singer who for some reason has made a little talent go a long way and has been quite successful here in the in the uk, due to serval TV shows.If you want to listen to a real tenor try Domingo or good old Pavarotti now these men can sing and have been in many opera's. What opera has Russell Watson been in? On this CD he murders Freddie Mercury and the fab Montserrat Caballe song "Barcelona" .

In a vote for the best Christmas album, it's a toss up for me between this and Phil Spector's. The voices of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are perfect for Christmas songs. They sound all warm and homely, and you can almost imagine them standing in front of a log fire singing these. Plus, the banter between Frank, Dean and Sammy is pretty entertaining and makes the songs stand out from the usual Christmas standards. If you get it, you'll bring it out every year and it will put a smile on your face!

My Mum introduced me to Cliff whilst I was still in the womb and since then I have grown up with wonderful memories of Christmas and Wimbledon.
