I had decided not to write a review of any album, but I have to for this one. I am now on my third(?) copy I lose track. I can't believe how wonderful their voices are and the charisma they ooze. An unbelievably talented group and all I can say to Sony is "Your loss!" Which is what they are proving at the moment. As well as continuing to perform as the magical Teatro they're individually reaching great heights.
Simon Bailey is Raoul in the new cast of Phantom and wowing them every night. Jeremiah James is about to star in Carousel with Lesley Garrett (which I can't wait to see btw!) and Stephen Rahman-Hughes and Andrew Alexander are both involved in other projects. Sony dropped the ball here and hopefully someone will pick it up and run ... Read More:

I heard 'Shenandoah' on Classic fm recently and couldn't get it out of my head. I just HAD to have it for myself. Do listen to the clip on the listing above and melt away to the beauty of sound that this man produces.

This is like a box of Bendicks Finest Chocolate Selection: a wide range of tastes is catered for yet the quality is universally sublime. It's more in the tradition of leider than opera but there are a few cracking arias, some hymns and an amazing bonus of 12 year old Bryn wowing them at the National Eisteddfod.

Not too impressed with the quality of the recording... I was really hoping for something MUCH better than that. If someone could recommended a brilliant audio recording of Carmen that would be just fantastic. This one lets me down I think. The singing is "top-drawer" though.

As I am lucky enough to have the 3 Aznavour english CDs this was culled from, I would like to echo all the other reviews of the wonder that is Aznavour in english. I would just like to put in a word for the main translator of the words into such idiomatically correct english. The english lyrics are in the main the work of Herbert Kretzmer. He is now mainly known for the magnificent job he did on the english translation of Les Miserables, also lyrics for the Peter Sellers/Sophia Loren Goodness, Gracious Me comedy song. If you've a romantic bone in your body, this CD is for you.

The whole idea of banning the playing of records is not only silly but is nowadays pretty much a thing of the past.Or takes on a different meaning when it seems the BBC have actually banned the playing of Cliff Richard records! I don't pretend to understand that one.
What it led to mainly was certain records were hits on the strength of a ban.
Who then were these dictators of public taste who had the power to censor what people should listen to
Seems they were people who applied no logic to what the rules stated-that anything hinting at religion, sex, drugs or advertising should be veloed.
Which covers at least 95% of all songs.
But looking at the titles here sounds like a joke-the Beverly Sisters' Greensleeves?

Russell Watson is not an opera singer but a pop singer who for some reason has made a little talent go a long way and has been quite successful here in the in the uk, due to serval TV shows. If you want to listen to a real tenor try Domingo or good old Pavarotti now these men can sing and have been in many opera's.

Living in Oman/ Arabia, working in Abu Dhabi & Dubai/ U.A. Emirates and travelling for business reasons all over the Gulf region and the Middle East I like to discuss with my Arabian friends and customers about the world most famous opera singers and most popular popmusic singers of both cultures - the Western (European & North American) and the Oriental culture.

We enjoy to listen to the best opera singers in Europe and in the Middle East. I was astonished to find CDs with music of Carreras, Domingo and Pavarotti in the homes of my Arabian friends - no wonder, many of them studied in their youth in the U.S. or in U.K.! My friends in Arabia deeply admire and truly appreciate CARRERAS, DOMINGO and PAVAROTTI !

Antonio Carlos Jobim goes down with Lennon/McCartney, Gershwin, Amstrong as one of the most influential songwriter/stylists of the 20th century.

To judge the album on its own merits is one thing. Getz turns in small but perfectly formed solos. Astrid Gilberto's voice is ravishing, complementing husband Joao's voice with that incredibly restrained vulnerability that is the essence of Bossa. It is an album of incredible tenderness and instrospection. The studio atmosphere is very intimate with an almost homespun quality. For me its a five star album in its own right.

However, this album has a far larger significance, in the way that Sargeant Pepper did. It changed everything and set off ripples that are still reverberating today.
