I discovered Joni about a year ago, hearing the song Case of You in the film Practical Magic and looking it up online. I bought the album Blue and completely fell in love with its mellowness and her wonderful voice.

Having listened to Blue about 7 million times i decided to seek out more of Joni. I read the reviews on a few of her albums on Amazon and settled on Court and Spark.

I expected it to be pretty similar as it was released only a few years after Blue, and was surprised to find it different. It's not as mellow as Blue, it's more jazzy and funky, more instruments are going on, backing singers- everything. But it doesn't take away the feeling she puts into the music, and of course her wonderful voice is still ... Read More:

I'm Sorry , call me closed minded , but i simply can not be friends with anyone who thinks this album merely OK. If you still don't like it after 10 listens , subscribe to MTV and buy the whole back catalogue of Now Thats What I Call Music albums . I know it's snobbery , but you really are not a Dylan fan if you don't like this. If you are a football fan , it's a bit like a guy in the pub claiming Maradona was a bit too small to be considered as good as Sir Bobby Charlton. ..Buy it..if you don't like it , go live in Germany. They have made David Hasselhoff No1 there.

Music : Tubular Bells Vol.1: Remastered
Amazon, for some reason, has suggested to me that I might want to buy this.

Ah no.

If you are really desperate to hear tubular bells, can I suggest a good recording of Parsifal? It has the virtue of being, if only subjectively, shorter.

Haven falling deeply in love with several bands that claim to be influenced by Camel (Pendragon, Arena, Knight Area etc...) I thought I'd go back to the source.

Sorry. Not my cup of tea.

It probably all seemed very clever and arty at the time, but this album might as well be inspired by reminiscences of a tea party as Snow Gooses.

It's just all so polite and nicey nicey and oh so Eengleesh. It sounds like the soundtrack to a 70's BBC educational kids TV show. Come to think of it it probably was used for one.

Prog at the time needed a good kick up the pants to survive, via punk, which thankfully it got and it has.

For Prog Archeologists only.

I've probably offended the god of prog now. ... Read More:

I actually am addicted to this album. First heard it twenty years ago and loved it then, but time passed and I forgot about it. Bought it again on CD two years ago and I'm still addicted. There's rarely a day I'm not listening to it on my Pod. It's the perfect antidote to the mass of rubbish that's churned out every day on the radio. This is music that reconnects you to great songwriting, musicianship and, in some ways, to yourself.

The post-Barrett to pre-Dark Side (1968-1972*) albums are considered to consist of a lot of aimless instrumental noodling with only the occasional song, most of which are second rate filler. Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Pink Floyd's first album, is considered to be a great, consistent album that really does work as a cohesive ALBUM. I have to disagree.

Piper is just as much a hodgepodge of filler and aimless noodling as the subsequent albums. It's just that the good stuff is REALLY good and the mediocre filler is coated in over the top praise just because they make up the majority of the myth shrouded Syd Barrett back catalogue.

In my opinion Astronomy Domine and Bike are the only brilliant songs on this album. Lucifer Sam is a good groovy '60's ... Read More:

I think that ZZ Top are a very good band and they remain one of my favorite bands of all-time. this is one great collection and they made great blues music in the 1970s and the 1980s. here are my comments about most of the songs. GIMME ALL YOUR LOVING this is a really great song and is my 2nd favorite song on the entire cd. SHARP DRESSED MAN this is pretty great too, but probably my 5th favorite. ROUGH BOY is a ballad that is too slow and too sad for me. TUSH is an excellent blues rocker remains one of my 5 favorites on this album. MY HEAD'S IN MISSISSPII is a blues rocker one of my favorites, PEARL NECKLACE not my fave, IM BAD IM NATHIONWIDE this is pretty good although remains as a 10th favorite or something. I AINT CRAZY ABOUT VIVA LAS VEGAS, DOUBLEBACK is a pretty good hard blues ... Read More:

I bought this album because I already loved the 'Badlands' and I went to the recent London Emirates Stadium gig, where he played some other tracks from this album.

I own Nebraska, Born to Run, Born in the USA and the recent Magic and I love them all, but this surpasses them in my opion. A truly awesome album, every song is fantastic.

I like Rod, I like some of the old classics from the crooners and this take by Rod is not at all bad.

Okay so some of the tracks are not the well known crooner classics but hey they can't all be as theres only so many.

My wife and I prefer the first volume in the series but this is almost as good.

Troubadour would have been appealing even if it were an instrumental album, on account of the delicious instrumental textures. Hey Baby charms the listener with its intricate guitar whilst Travelin' Light is a rhythmic up-tempo excursion with hypnotic percussion. One of the longest tracks is You Got Something, a yearning love song with brilliant instrumental interplay.

The romantic Ride Me High is a masterpiece of expressive guitar and percussion, the brief track Hold On is a slow bluesy interlude and then there's the original of Cocaine with its powerful rock guitar riffs which became a great hit for Eric Clapton. I'm A Gypsy Man has a nervous, jerky rhythmic pattern whilst The Woman That Got Away is an up-tempo blues track with impressive piano. The whining guitar on Super Blue is ... Read More:
