I'll keep this review relatively short, and hopefully it'll be of use to anyone considering buying Pink Moon, Nick Drake's 3rd album.

What this album has to offer is something between Nick Drake's other 2 albums. Pink Moon isn't as upbeat and jazzy as his 2nd album Bryter Layter, but then again it isn't as depressing and gloomy as Five Leaves Left. Even if it does comprise just Nick and his guitar on all but the opening (title) track, Pink Moon doesn't necessarily leave you feeling depressed. And that's because a lot of the tracks on the album basically aren't gloomy.
For example, "Pink Moon" (Track 1) might take a while to get into, but it's not a sad song at all. Neither are songs like Road, Which Will or Free Ride. ... Read More:

This album seems to be the one that get the vote as Camel's finest, and on listening to it, it's not hard to see why. Chock full of exquisite and wonderful melodies, this is both Camel and the genre of soft prog rock at their finest, and showcases beautifully what this genre of music is all about. Simply divine!! I'd heard Lunar Sea a few times on internet radio and that caught my attention; that is definitely a highlight of the album, being a jazz-infused prog rock instrumental, but I'd have to say that Air Born is my personal favourite track on Moonmadness. It defies superlatives and only listening to this track for yourself will demonstrate why this whole album deserves your undivided attention. Go ahead and get this and hear a fine example of ... 204.The Complete Great American Songbook Volumes I,II,III,IV by: Rod Stewart

Music : The Complete Great American Songbook Volumes I,II,III,IV
Ok,so some mixed reviews on this one - firstly,I am no big fan of Rod Stewart but I am a big fan of good music and this type of music in particular.
For a top rock star like Rod to put his reputation on the line by recording these songbooks must have been a big decision for him to make.I agree that he is no old style crooner but I think he makes a great attempt at it.
There are many great performances in this collection and to be fair,he does himself proud on most of the tracks.
I think however that the orchestral arrangements are a little bland at times and an artist draws his inspiration from those around him and relies heavily on great arrangements and inspiring performances by supporting musicians.
There can be no doubt that ... Read More:

Another compilation of Straits songs and yet again they get it wrong.Instead of a two-disc anthology concentrating on the bands career (the Eagles 2-disc set is a prime example of what could and should have been) we are given a compilation which mixes Straits material with solo stuff and collaborations with female singers. This is really a mess - lets hope the powers that be listen and get it right in future.

I love Elkie Brooks' music and this certainly captures some of her finer moments.

But a 'Best Of' compilation can only cherry pick the tracks that have come from a long line of albums, which in themselves show the style of the singer at that time.

So whilst these tracks are great to listen to, do yourself a favour and pick a couple of her other albums *first* - then come back to this one to get all the great tracks in one place, but having the background to really appreciate them.

Sunflower was the product of 18 months recording activity by the Beach Boys and features song writing contributions from every group member. Although the Beach Boys are chiefly remembered as a sixties artist their first release of the new decade is perhaps their finest album (save for Pet Sounds, of course!). Although the album was recorded in very turbulent times for the group, you would never know it. The album captures a warmth and crispness that makes a dense production seem much lighter than it is. Much of the credit for this must go to engineer Stephen Desper. Sunflower obviously features the usual (excellent) Beach Boys harmonies couples with inventive backing tracks. Much musical ground is covered from folksy gospel (Add Some Music) to Broadway-esque ... Read More:

Loved this album ever since I bought it in the mid seventies. All the way back then I had never seen a triple album before so really surprised this time round to unwrap the new re-mastered CD with its slim little jewel case) Bless...

Very happy to report the sound quality is a bit better, clearer and with a touch more body/punch. I was relieved because even though the album is a classic the sound was originally terrible (Especially after many plays on your record player) so it's great to hear it cleaned up. I had no trouble with disc 2 as some reviewers have stated...

All Yes fans will have there favorite parts from this recording. For me it is tracks like "Perpetual Change" "Long Distance Runaround" "Yours is No Disgrace" and "Starship Trooper" ... Read More:

It could be that this was my first introduction to Hendrix, but I maintain to this day it is the best of the 'Jimi Hendrix Experience' studio albums. I say this for a great number of reasons.

First of all, lets assume you've never heard an 'Experience' album before, and want to dip your toe in the water. This album is a great place to start, as it eases you in with a nice gentle, yet sublimely funky number, before it crushes your head with Spanish Castle Magic. The album is like a gentle roller coaster ride of funky rocky highs, and gentle mellow dips, with an ease of access missing from the other two studio albums.

So that gets you into it, and opens your mind to the possibility of exploring Hendrix further. At this point you may be drawn to purchasing ... Read More:
