Classic songs sung as only Rod Stewart can. Mixed feelings as to how classic some of these tracks are but they are mostly pleasing. One of a series that I think will grow bigger and a CD my wife and I listen to every now and then but we still prefer the first volume.

Thin Lizzy has always been big because they are one of the most famous rock bands and the fact that they are Irish and that type of hype never appeals to me it's happend to bands like U2 & Snow Patrol, and they arn't as good as everyone says they are. But Thin Lizzy are a great irish rock n roll band. Made famour by their songs The Boys are back in town & Whiskey In The Jar, they are more then just those 2 awesome songs. This album for example, all the songs are excellent and some brilliant rock n roll riffs.With classics likes Jailbreak, Angel From The Coast & of course The Boys Are Back In Town. Like other reviewers, I saw Rory at a festival and was hooked. It was Woburn Abbey in 1968 and we had already had our ears reamed by a quite dreadful performance by Hendrix - out of tune (horribly), out of time (woefully), perfunctory, noisy, uninspired. In fact, I wonder if the Great God was like this on stage more often than not. Anyway, on the Sunday evening on came Taste and just blew Hendrix and his foul noise away - and I was very far from the only one to think that although few would admit it today since Hendrix has been canonised. I went to see the band at the Marquee very shortly after that (Rory, Norman Damery and Eric Kitteringham) and Rory told me that they had done a few sessions and had one single on the Irish Major Minor label - Blister ... If you like music that is poetic, intelligent and rocks like a Godzilla with his tail on fire then you will love Patti Smith. Horses is a good first choice for anyone who wants to know her music.

This collection was released in November 2004 and spent 10 weeks in the charts over Christmas & New Year 2004 / 2005...and has sold around 100,000 copies to date according to the band's official website: www.showaddywaddy.net It's the most comprehensive collection on a single CD of the band's singles released between 1974 and 1982, and only misses out five: "Take Me In Your Arms" (1976), "Doo Wah Diddy" (1980), "Good Timing" (1982), "Goody Goody" (1982), "(You're My) Soul & Inspiration" (1983). None of these were chart hits, and only Soul & Inspiration is truly indispensable, but you can get this on "Living Legends" or "The Arista Singles Vol.2" anyway. A grower. Loved Discovery and Out of the blue. This took a while to get into but boy does it pay off. Great melodies. Can't really see this as a concept album. A few mentions of the future in the lyrics but mostly a collection of great melodies. The singles seem out of place somewhat. Hold on tight and Twilight,Way lifes meant to be are out and out rockers, not among my favourite elo tracks. Here is the news/Ticket to the moon seem more apt and fit in better.The filler tracks on the album are all terrific. Not a bad track among them. From hearing the singles i would never thought of buying the album but the rest of the songs make up for them. Shame no strings but never mind. Great stuff

I bought this on tape when it first came out, then gave it away. If you like rock, want ot hear KISS's hits, how the were recorded, buy Double Platinum, and then just buy Creatures of the Night, Lick it Up, Asylum, Crazy Nights, Revenge, Psycho Circus, and then Carnical of Souls. And Guys, I I have them all, been to see them 6 times, will try and get to Download (was at the front last time at Donnington), and must advise you all to get out there and see "The Hottest Bad in the World, KISS" live and in the (probably decaying) flesh! Also Alive, Alive II, Alive III, and Alive IV are very much worth buying...

i have been in love with this mans music since radio plays of tubular bells opened my ears to a vision that has reached many highs and a few lows. this album proves......GOD IS BACK BIG TIME. I HAVENT ENJOYED ON FIRST PLAY AN ALBUM SO MUCH SINCE AS FAR BACK AS INCANTATIONS. EACH track weaves a musical spell that leaves you wanting more , getting better as you get further into the magical sound play that mike has created. if you thought the king was dead.....think again.

'Fresh Cream' was Cream's first release, recorded within a few months of them getting together. It was probably one of the first 'progressive blues' records and as such sounded different to anything else around in 1966, apart from perhaps Jimi Hendrix. Looking back now it seems to contain a slightly odd mix of melodic pop - "I Feel Free", "NSU" "Sweet Wine", updated country blues - "Four Until Late", "I'm So Glad" and harder-edged blues workouts - "Spoonful", "Cat's Squirrel" and "Rollin' And Tumblin'". As time went on it was these workouts that would come to dominate their set as extended jams but here they are relatively concise and in my opinion all the better for that.
