The fact that it is over20 years old is testament to the fact this is still selling strong. This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and permenantly stays in the car for periodic stress relief and pleasure time. The album encompasses a variety of music styles and includes the legendary 'You can call me Al'. This has to be one of the all time great tracks. Not only that, this album was responsible for the popularity of Lady Blacksmith Mambazo due to their involvement in the album and tracks such as 'Homeless'. For me this is a must have album, for the simple fact it has tap along tracks along with tracks that calm your soul.

I'm gonna keep this pretty short,in a nut shell this is the greatest rock album ever,riffs to blow you into the 22nd century,and beyound. Sounds as fantastic today as when it came out.

This is one of the better places to go to start listening to the music of Journey. You get a good selection of tracks, which covers their most well known songs and a few others for good measure. The booklet folds out into a poster and the artwork is great. From tracks like 'Don't stop believing' to 'Who's crying now' you know you're on familiar ground and if you like 70's and 80's rock you can't really go wrong. If you want an introduction to this classic rock band then this is the place to go.

10CC were huge in the mid to late 70's. Much like contemporaries ELO they were often overlooked by the more hybrow critics and dismissed as merely Beatles wannabe's. Whilst the Beatle comparisons cannot be denied messers, Godley, Creme, Gouldman and Stewart were an entirely more exciting prospect than Jeff Lynne's mob. Lyrically erudite, musically inventive and all four band members possesed of great voices, 10cc peddled harmony drenched, hugely inventive powerpop and retro rock. At their best they were sublime - 'I'm Mandy, Fly Me', 'Life Is A Minestroni' and 'Rubber Bullets'. 'I'm Not In Love' may have been dulled by massive over exposure but it's still a great ballad and more than deserved it's number 1 position on both sides of the Atlantic. ... Read More:

I remember this album coming out in time for my 17th birthday, which corresponded with my first family funeral, and listening to it the night and the morning before this. Its now remebarance day 2008 and im about to listen to it again... now my point is that 23 years seperate these two events but im sure ill sit and ill know the lyrics and quely sign along to to songs like the gunners dream with the tears pricking in my eyes just like in the the song. Doesnt matter whether its floyd or walters its stil a fantastic album. So buy this album, and maybe it will affect you like it has me !!

There's not much I can add to the reviews already submitted, however in respect of Ringo not being given a song, he actually sang lead vocals on 'Matchbox' which was actually recorded during the sessions for a Hard Day's Night. Also recorded during these sessions were 'Long Tall Sally', 'I Call Your Name' and 'Slow Down'. All four of these songs (three of them were covers) were excluded from 'A Hard Day's Night', but released seperately on the 'Long Tall Sally' EP. Also of interest, the two sides of a single, i.e., 'Can't Buy Me Love' and 'You Can't Do That' were actually recorded at an earlier session in 1964, but included on the 'A Hard Day's Night' album.

Just buy it and get that head banging! 4th and 5th Form parties (not discos yet) would not have been the same without 'Hall of the Crimson King': And what respectable bedroom would not have THAT cover thrown casually in view? Yes the music has help up against time - and the voice still cuts through to even today's youngsters (tried it out on a local victim - he went and downloaded the album straight away - didn't get the cover though). And I love the packet - mini reproduction LP cover!

At least Oliver Stone has a good taste in music, when he took 3 songs from this album to make his pseudo satire NATURAL BORN KILLERS. THE FUTURE is yet another great album by Leonard Cohen with several great tracks which are very meaningful, especially THE FUTURE, ANTHEM, DEMOCRACY and WAITING FOR THE MIRACLE. Anyone who enjoys sophisticated lyrics cannot go wrong here.

I'm probably going to enrage a few readers, but what a very poor album this is. And i'm not saying that because i'm any kind of champion of military intervention. The message is wholly laudable, but i found this album to be unbelievably..........lame. Neil's got a whole load of friends to help out on choir duties, and it sounds very amateurish. I almost regret having wasted the time on giving it a spin. (Sorry if i've caused offence to any big fans of this piece of work.)

I had the pleasure of seeing Neil Young live in Kent last weekend. It was great to see he is still on tremendous form after all these years. With a catalogue of about thirty albums it is difficult for newcomers to his work to know where to start their collection, but this compilation covers a lot of his best known music.
