Emiliana hang your head in shame. I loved 'Love in the time..' for it's lovely ambient beats together with that beautiful voice. Wasn't expecting the folky turn of 'Fisherman's' but still great (especially live).

This latest offering is an example of someone with absolutely no idea as to what direction to take musically. I have no problem with taking different directions, but probably best not to take them all at the same time. This is a complete mess and a waste of - did I say already? a beautiful voice.

D- must try much much harder.

I have only had this album for two days and it is already one of my favourites! Although I had heard of Ray Lamontagne, I had not heard any of his music and ordered this album from Amazon on a whim. Just pure beautiful music, very Damian Rice-esque, execpt more upbeat!!

Of all the introspective styled singer-songwriters of the early seventies Carole King would perhaps seem a most unlikely candidate to adopt that genre - after all her success was at its peak a decade earlier when she was predominantly a songwriter alongside her husband Gerry Goffin penning a great many fondly remembered classics aimed at the teen market. Fortunately, her forte had always been strong melodies and 'Tapestry', her second album is no exception although its style is more intimate than the style of her early career.
Actually, it's not unrealistic to regard 'Tapestry' as one of only a handful of truly great albums because there are very few albums that are so consistently great from start to finish without the odd filler. 'Tapestry' certainly ... Read More:

James Morrison reminds me of Terence Trent Derby with his distinctive vocals and cut down style, very few musical instruments, often just acoustic guitar and drums.Echoes of Stevie Wonder and chords and melodies that have a passing resemblance to other artists' songs complete the mix.I really like this album but it wasn't one that i liked first time of hearing. It's an album you need to play and let it grow on you. It's a little raw and naive in places and a little like a live recording of a busker on a city street corner. No bells and whistles, just a guy relying and believing in his talent. This gives it some originality and credit to James Morrison on producing a stunning album that may not be for everyone but will be enjoyed by most.Recommended.

Rising soul artist Robin Thicke is always keep to point out he's no overnight success. Although he's only just beginning to make a name for himself in the UK - he's actually on his third album , Something Else.

Son of 80's 'Growing Pains' sitcom actor Robin Thicke and performer mum Gloria Loring, Thicke pursued music from an early age.

After meeting super producer Andre Harrell, by 16-years-old he was penning tracks for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Brandy and Michael Jackson.

Robin released his first album, a Beautiful World in 2002, but it was a commercial flop.

Frustrated from the experience of promoting his delayed second album the Evolution of Robin Thicke, the singer's career hit the pause button. It soon ... Read More:

I bought the special edition with the book, DVD, CDs with outtakes, auditions, missing pieces etc. But I also wanted to hear The War Of The Worlds in ultra high quality SACD.

Well, I feel let down. The quiet parts get cut, e.g. echoes pop in and out. It seems the recording engineer has cut all sound below a certain level from the mix tapes.

Going back to my original CD version, there is certainly more noise but there is also a hell of lot more depth to the sound. Playing them side by side, I hear a complete change in the mixes right the way through. I noticed that the vocals of the SACD are muted by comparison to the CD version.

This is not what SACD is about, this recording sounds like an early 80s digital recording, very reminiscent ... Read More:

As a fan of there first album I bought this album when it first came out, listened to it once and said "What is this? It sounds like ELO on crack. RUBBISH!!" And so didn't listen to it for ages. However i found it again the other day so listened to it once again. My reaction this time was "What is this? It sounds like ELO on crack. GREAT!!" I always find the things that take a while to like usually stay with you for longer. Good Album!

This is one of those classic albums that everyone has to own, and it is a very special record.

There are so many brilliant songs on this album; personal favourites are Out On The Weekend, Heart Of Gold and Old Man, but every track is just as brilliant as the previous and next.

The overall feel is just mellow and relaxed in terms of musical arrangement and vocal delivery, but the lyrics are intense in their depths of heartfelt emotion.

It sounds too simple to be this good, with very modest and unassuming instruments and a harmonica, which adds to the feel of the heart of the American countryside/prairies.

This album may be 36 years old but it still sounds so fresh and is still relevant now.
