It's an okay album, but he ain't his dad when it comes to lyrics but then who is? The photography seems to suggest he's embracing his history a bit more than in his Wallflowers days. Worth a few listens, but won't win any new fans.

Just how did they decide which song should be a single. With perhaps the exception of Wooden Boat, all of these songs could have been a single. All the lads take a turn at singing lead and all take credit for the combined work. A truly incredible feat, for the best selling band in the country to take 10 years off, not only come back but come back better. If this is a refection of what we are to expect in the future I can't wait for the next album

i dont think the content overall needs to be reviewed, its all classic abba and can all be found elsewhere EXCEPT for I AM THE CITY, this track is still ,as far as i know, not available anywhere else except on this album,(im not counting the COMPLETE STUDIO RECORDINGS box set,the purchase of which may necessitate a small mortgage) and i cant believe no other review has mentioned this. If you@re a fan , its the main reason to buy this album, and if your collecting all abba's recordings,it makes this essential. oh, and if you havent heard it the track is great, not one of their moving and meaningful ones but its fun, hypnotic and sparkly,;incredible arrangement and production, -i know thats kind of a given for abba- but - much more so than, for example ... All right, I am a bit late off the mark with this review and, I have to be honest I only got this coz Tesco were flogging it cheap but I am glad I did. I put this in the cd player, sat back, and then jumped up for joy at the sheer energy that came from the speakers from this album. I am not saying it is wall to wall sunshine, but, nearly all of the tracks were upbeat and uplifting. A Sadness Runs Through Him was for me the only track that I did not really like that much, but that may just be me. This is Brit guitar pop at its best. It is funny that I picked this up at the same time as picking up The Clash singles album which was also going cheap too. Does that say anything, maybe, but I would urge you to at least give this a good listen and judge for yourself. ... Read More:

For a while back in the early 80's this album was a semi permanent fixture on my turntable. Blancmange are an enigma to many - silly name, fluffy pop singles, no real image to speak of, had a few hits then faded away. But look under the surface and they were so much more than that.

This, their debut album, is a real mixed bag of musical styles. The only consistent thing about tracks as diverse as Sad Day, Feel Me, Living On The Ceiling and Waves is the peculiar english eccentric streak they all contain. Sort of like a UK Talking Heads with the funky art rock leaning replaced by whimsical english pop sensibilities. Hearing this album now years after its release (its been out of print for ages) its clear this band could only ever have existed in the 1980's. ... Read More:

Personally I'm sick and tired of people harping on about how great this album is, yeah O.K. it's not bad but there are millions of far better albums out there in all kinds of genres, check out some Drum and Bass on the Hospital Records label like "high contrast" and you will see what I mean, and no I'm not a young hoodie I'm in my forties. Sorry Pink it's too outdated now.

possibly the most irritating bunch of useless dim wits to grace the music scene ever, the songs really are scraping the barrel to the point where it becomes quite offensive. Most of the songs comprise of background music reminisent of the type found on old commodore 64 computer games (only not as good) with that vile singer chanting the same childish lyrics over and over again in that horrible whiney voice.
Unfortunately this is the type of music your average thick moron seems to like these day's.
