On the back of this box set is says "RCA Original Masters is the only record label that can deliver the best possible sound recordings of the legendary Glenn Miller", unfortunately they don't do it here. This is a good value set of 60 of Miller's best tunes but the sound is not all that great, in fact RCA had a far better sounding collection called Glenn Miller Platinum out a few years ago, although it doesn't seem to be available at present. There was also a single disc on Nimbus produced by the legendary sound engineer Robert Parker which had incredible sound on some tracks, but this is also difficult to track down at the moment. I'm not a music expert or anything like that. i just know that I like a good melody and pleasant sounds. I listen to this music in the car together with my 8 year old son and it puts a smile on both our faces. When ever I play this CD, anyone that hears it enjoys it's melodies and I keep havingt to buy it for my friends. This music is timeless and certainly sells Quincy Jones as a guy with a good ear for arranging different sounds and tempos within a piece of music. We can't get enough of the trumpets on No 3 i.e "Desafinado". We love the percussions in "Samba de Una Nota So" i.e tract 7. This is one of the classic jazz recordings. The quintet consisted of Charlie Parker on sax, Dizzy Gillespie on trumpet, Charles Mingus on bass, Bud Powell on piano and Max Roach on drums. The lead-up to the concert itself was apparently a bit of a shambles, but the music is pretty amazing.

Have to agree with the comments of previous reviewer. Having bought and enjoyed "The best of Johnny Dankworth\|" it seemed only sensible to buy this collection. Of the 51 music tracks that appear here 15 are on the "Best of " collection but don't let that put you off. I was particularly pleased to get, at long last, the original Seven recordings of "Two Ticks" and "Moon Flowers" as a very good friend of mine had, and probrably still has, the original 78 rpm. Highly recommended.

This CD is without doubt the worst CD I have bought. The volume level goes up and down and its obviously recorded from a record as you can hear the clicks and hiss on the recording. Don't buy this CD if you want a quality recoding. I have returned the one I bought

when i ordered this double c.d for such a low price i was;nt quite sure what i would be getting but i was pleasently surprised. to get 50 briliant recordings played & sung by an array of top class artists lasting 2 and a half hours is real value for money.

This is very interesting set for any one starting to collect D.E., and an annoying one for everyone who is trying to get a complete set of all his stuff, luckily it is not much to pay for four very rare tracks(which i hope allong with the Neatwork series) we now have got every out-take from this very important and in some cases under rated part of Duke's rich amount of work he left to the world and Jazz. Nice sound but not a lot of info, case of "small" notes on the best and "Biggest" band on earth,( on a good night that is).Bye
