I bought this album as a teenager in the 70's and never felt it was one of zeps greatest albums compared to Physical Graffiti and vol4 so unfortunately it was the last of the remasters that I bought. Having listened to it a couple of times it has quickly become one of my favourates. Its understated beauty really hit me and touched me particularly "tangerine" and the really beautiful "thats the way". Pity the packaging doesnt reflect the curiosity of the original LP cover. Buy it and enjoy!

I think that ZZ Top are a very good band and they remain one of my favorite bands of all-time. this is one great collection and they made great blues music in the 1970s and the 1980s. here are my comments about most of the songs. GIMME ALL YOUR LOVING this is a really great song and is my 2nd favorite song on the entire cd. SHARP DRESSED MAN this is pretty great too, but probably my 5th favorite. ROUGH BOY is a ballad that is too slow and too sad for me. TUSH is an excellent blues rocker remains one of my 5 favorites on this album. MY HEAD'S IN MISSISSPII is a blues rocker one of my favorites, PEARL NECKLACE not my fave, IM BAD IM NATHIONWIDE this is pretty good although remains as a 10th favorite or something. I AINT CRAZY ABOUT VIVA LAS VEGAS, ... Read More:

Fantastic new album from the Wonderful Black Keys. If you've never heard them before I can highly recommend them if you like Blues, Classic Rock but with a modern twist, similar but better (yes better) than the White Stripes. I agree with some of the other reviewers that it's more polished than previous outing but I don't mind this. Check out their back catalouge now!

I recently picked up on Joe Bonnamassa and was well impressed with what I heard!.
For me , his style evokes a lot of the blues-rock greats of yesteryear who switched from acoustic to electric with equally great results, Rory Gallagher, Jimmy Page , also those from the "Power Trios" of the late 60's - early 70's - hello Cream , ZZ Top!.
The 70's blues-rock influences are much in evidence, with covers from Bad Co , and John Martyn's "Easy Blues" , entitled " Jelly Roll " here, given an acoustic take ( yes , Martyn could rock out with the best of them , back in the day!) ,Bonnamassa also successfully covers Chris Whitley's 'Ball Peen Hammer' from the 90's , whatever happened to him?.
I love the version of "Black Night", which I have heard ... Read More:

This is a truly excellent album. THe acoustic sets are superb and show John Mayer off as the brilliant guitarist that he is. The trio sets and in deed some of the full band songs sound very much like Jimmie Vaughan. It is excellent, the songs are his best, from all previous album, but live. The small twiddly bits between/ leading into songs are very good and original. I would definitely recommend this any day to anyone who like rock, blues or jazz.(I mostly listen to metal by Mayer is the Jazz man that I like, he is a shinning example for all those in his genre) *****. Buy it.

David Gilmour's second solo effort from 1984 see's him deliberately getting away from the distinctive, timeless sound of Pink Floyd. In doing so, About Face today sounds very much 'of its time' - drenched in mid-eighties synth, drums and an awful 'Phil Collins-esque' horn section.

Thats not so say there aren't redeeming factors here. Gilmour's solo's - when allowed to break through the horrid 80's gloss - are great, and there are some decent songs (Murder, Out Of The Blue, Near The End) but there is a lot that is instantly forgettable.

If you want Gilmour on top solo form get his 2006 'On An Island' album, or check out his amazing live DVD's.

This is so mellow and dreamy. A perfect accompaniment to a 'deep' mood. Only don't listen to it whilst driving or operating heavy machinery as you'll probably find yourself falling asleep! Oh, and she has the most adorable chin cleft, not that it's evident just from listening to her singing, though. I think listening to this has cheered me up. It might work for you too!

'Mess Of Blues' is an absolutely sensational collection of live, predominantly blues recordings from the sadly departed guitar virtuoso and his brilliant band. If you like blues guitar played with passion and feeling, coupled with a tight, jumping rhythm section then this album is for you. Jeff Healey, in the liner notes, describes his band as "the very best bar band that anyone could ask for" and he wasn't wrong - they're tremendous.

The choices of songs are interesting and varied and make for a rich, eclectic, engaging listen, including tracks such as The Band's 'The Weight', Neil Young's 'Like A Hurricane' and Hank Williams' 'Jambalaya', all performed brilliantly. Standards such as 'I'm Torn Down', 'Mess O' Blues' and 'Shake, Rattle And Roll' are executed ... Read More:

My son knowing I am and always will be a huge Clapton fan, bought this for my last birthday (I don't mean my LAST bithday, I am hoping to have many more!) I would not have gone and purchased this myself, as within my CD collection I have all of these tracks and could have made up this compilation myself. Having said that it is a good collection (how many Clapton collections have there been over the years?). The two discs represent a reasonable selection of the mans work, although I would have liked some of his early stuff with John Mayall and even The Yardbirds, perhaps Blind Faith, just to round the collection out. I played it in the car and it is a great driving companion, even though I know all the tracks well, thay are great songs and just remind you once again what a tremendous ... Read More:
