..is the only word for this album. I have never heard such a pure voice - you may have heard the songs before but you have never heard them sung like this. Eva's voice was unique - how very sad that the only video in existence of her singing is some amatuer footage taken at Blues Alley - where some of these tracks were recorded. If you can listen to "Autumn Leaves" without a lump in your throat - then you have no soul my friend.

182.Death Magnetic by: Metallica
September 12, 2008
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Music : Death Magnetic
This album demonstrates many of the influences Metallica have had over the years. Every song is quite different to the one before yet all remain very appealing and enjoyable.
It seems Metallica have rediscovered the right mix of melody, aggression and funk after their last few disappointing efforts. Some of the influences I can pick up on are: Iron Maiden, John 5, Slayer, Pantera and perhaps even a little bit of Marty Friedman. Favourite song? Cyanide

In summary, a brilliant album of very different tunes but all capturing the imagination of the listener. Thoroughly recommended - 5 Star!

To me this set of eleven songs seems like This Is The Life - a deserving worldwide hit, with six million YouTube views at the time of writing - and ten charming variations. Collectively, they just about pull their weight, and occasionally get close to genius (e.g. 'Poison Prince', in my humble opinion). I very much hope we will see one or two more big ideas in the second album.

The problem with the Shea Stadium gig was that they were supporting a stadium rock band (The Who) and, thus, concentrated on some of their more audience-friendly tracks.

The best live Clash track I have ever heard is Complete Control. Other great lives songs include White Man In Hammersmith Palais, London's Burning and Capital Radio. None of which feature here.

Although there are some great Clash songs on here, and some are better than on the second half of From Here To Eternity, this does not represent the best of the Clash live.

To get a true picture of what the Clash were like live, you'd probably need the first half of From Here To Eternity, mixed with a random selection of tracks from this CD.

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.

Lullaby: a Beautiful and Soothing Collection of Night Time Songs for Children and Grown Ups

This album calms & promotes sleep for our little girl, who is very, very resistant to sleeping! We play it every night at bedtime & then constantly through the evening to keep her asleep, so the repeat button gets a lot of use! The music compilations have been beautifully created & the music is very relaxing for us too! Even my 7 year old likes the CD. The songs literally get in your head & I find myself humming or singing them during the day! Wish we had found the CD earlier, and would recommend to anyone with young children. Can't wait for the rest of the collection to be available.

This, the fourth album proper from the band, starts well with two songs that sound fresh, lively and a little different before normal service is resumed with mixed results. I wish they'd continued with the sunnier upbeat vibe of those opening tracks and made this their summer album (I already see 'Agaetis' as their wet behind the ears Spring album and '( )' their chilly winter disc). When compared to the previous three albums you'd have to conclude that this is the weakest but it is still an enjoyable listen.

The next album will be the real test for the band as more of the same might not be enough to keep everyone interested.

Spotted in a bookshop in Bakewell, Derbyshire. There wasn't a "2" was there? So I bought it. And it's hardly been off in the car since. I agree with other reviewers that not every song here is a gem, but the Lucas numbers do have something that stirs the sentiments. (You who said he wasn't a great songwriter, I present exhibit A - "Bring 'em Down" on Fairport 9). It's true though that it's the Denny tracks that really stir the soul. Her remarkable ability to interpret a song never disappoints on this disc.

With all the emotion in the vocals, and all the Telecaster Pyrotechnics of the genius Donahue, it's easy to ignore the superb foundation on which this edifice is built. British folk-rock music has provided some of the best rhythm sections in the world. Conway ... Read More:

Ok Ok so it's Christmas time again, time for "YET ANOTHER" Rod's Greatest hits collection.
Now, please don't get me wrong here, I appreciate that dear old "Rodders" needs lots of money to pay for all those ex wives and kids, but PLEEEEASE give us something fresh!!
I must admit that it's my wife that is the Rod fan in our house, and every year she looks out for Rod's latest offering around Christmas time, and lo and behold, this year it's yet another "Greatest hits" compilation.
I am writing this review 2 days before the release of this album because we have already heard it.........loads of times, poor old Maggie May has been on more albums than the Beatles, She must be knackered!
So, please Rodders, if you read this, lets have something fresh, not the same ... Read More:
