BRMC seem to grow on you. I bought Howl and initially disliked it compared to their previous offering, BRMC. So I approached Baby 81 with some doubts. Yet, eventually, like Howl, I was won over and it rates as one of the better CD's I have bought recently. I am impressed by what this group do as a trio as they do "more" with "less" so to speak. The range of styles and their willingness to try different things is in stark contrast to REM's latest offering that seems to slide back to "old times" and the hype surrounding singers like Duffy who grate on your nerves after a few hearings. Music that raises the hairs on the back of my neck is a rarity these days, yet BRMC have done it.

holy cow - now THIS is how to do it kids! talk about comeback album of the century. i always thought this band was the best of all the 80's thrash outfits, even including metallica and slayer. they werent afraid to experiment a bit, with mixed results. but when they were on the button they really smoked. this is something else again and i got to agree with a reviewer here who says this is the kind of album sabbath should make if theyre gonna work again. in fact, this has gotta be the template for any metal band out there thinking of cutting an album the production on this album is so massive that it defies description. this has gotta be the loudest, most ferocious album ever made. even at low volume it comes raging out of the speakers. ... Having bought "Pull my chain" i was eager to hear some of Tobys older stuff,i bought this album really to see what his music was like prior to "Pull my chain" and i have to say it is Brilliant.The lyrics on the album are truely heartfelt,and most of the songs are written by Toby himself not co written like his newer albums.Stand out tracks such as "whos that man" and "big ol truck" make you want to shed atear and yet Toby always manages to slip in a bit of humour.
