This is my first Swingle Singers CD and I must say I enjoyed the 'feel' of this CD. It creates a very festive calming feel to a room and enables gentle relaxation. There are some great voices and arrangements and I'm gald to have it in my varied musical collection.

Clearly, this album is not a surprise to anyone who wants to buy it. It has all the Supremes songs you would expect to find, and if you like the Supremes you already know what you are buying. Clearly, there is no new material on this cd! I rarely listen to this one, as it definitely fits a certain mood. But, when I am with my whole family I often put it in because almost everyone can sing along and the songs are still enjoyable. There are a few "Supremes Songs" (post Diana) at the end of the CD which makes for an interesting twist. If you like the Supremes it is highly unlikely that you won't find this cd enjoyable.

Almost four years passed before Fiona Apple recorded her second album, so you would expect this one to be extremely polished - and it is. Although it is more hard-edged than the first album, Tidal, it still demonstrates Fiona's excellent melodic ability, as well as her well-thought-out (sometimes slightly Beatle-esque) arrangements. An extremely good album.

God I needed this. I have been dining out on Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Sonic Youth, Calexico, Broken Social Scene,Wilco, Flaming Lips. But nothing fills the void like a BTS album. This has that deep dreamy/wasted/inspired rock-out feel I crave, an enormous but intense landscape. I won't even bother comparing this to the other albums. This one puts me in mind of Pink Floyd though. Martsch's voice is like another instrument. Lyrics are as strange and engaging as ever if you want to tune in to them. But for me the music does all the communicating. Beyond words.

This is an amazing new release with, what i think, is a a slightly new style from Ben. It has a more upbeat, funkier array of songs on the heavier (not heavy, but heavier then the other cd, which is mostly acoustic) cd like 'Better Way' and 'Black Rain'. The acoustic cd, I found, Is brilliant as background music and when you want to chill, and it is not too depressing. Even 'Morning Yearning' has a slight happy build to it and emotionly strong music to it with violins and double bass. I love the new instrunments he has added, and in songs such as 'Sereve your Soul' which has a great climax of music at the end to finish off the album. 'Tread softly on my dreams..." implore Czar on the titular opener to their cult 1970 release on Philips' Fontana label. Alas, the record-buying public were to trample all over them. The reason lies not in the quality on offer but its lack of constancy. When silly English pop group Giles, Giles & Fripp mutated into the awesome, continent-spanning King Crimson, and overnight defined a genre with multi-selling 'Court of The Crimson King', music majors raced off with wallets open to find more of the same. Some made the jump successfully, others less so. Tuesday's Children recorded a string of poppy psych singles in the 60s before tackling the latest thing with this album. Patti's early noughties output has always been overtly political, but few of her latter-day records have the power, the scope, the vision or the FIRE of this magnificent album. "Trampin" is the sound of Patti trying to "make heaven her home," a message she explicitly preaches throughout the album, which can be interpreted as her heartfelt reaction to the Iraq War & 9/11, and her attempt to make sense of the world as a poet. "Jubilee" begins the album in a typically beatific fashion. The violins resound over stirring, uplifting guitars as she beats of the message "freedom ring" over this powerful rock beat.
