I just want to agree with the previous reviewer, Mr McPhee. Crikey, do you buy a box set to hunt the typographical and presentational mistakes? I well remember putting the vinyl first Shakti album on my turntable and hearing John's quietly uttered, 'Good evening. Friends. Thank you for that (pause) warm welcome'. This was followed by a blistering display of collective musicianship which held me transfixed, and still does. To put anybody off getting hold of these Shakti albums possibly for the first time, as well as two later albums, which have some nice meditative tracks as well as more souped-up material - well .... And as Mr McPhee says, the price is irresistible. And the same goes for the Mahavishnu ... Read More:

The music is great and well selected. But B-WARE of an apparently systematic defect: Peter, a previous reviewer had a problem of switched contents. My set has a more serious problem. CD 1 has the contents of cd 3 while cd 3 has its proper contents. This means the 26 or so songs of cd 1 are missing. This is a typical latent defect. Naturally a long time may go after you buy the set before you notice the defect, so returning it to the seller may be impossible. It is a problem and a fun-eradicating irritation getting this defect remedied. So you better listen to the discs before you pay the money. Good luck. I bought this last year despite owning the original albums and I have to say it was money very well spent. If you are hesitating as I did my advice is just buy it! The sound quality is quite superb, Weller's performances on some of the stuff not previously released are almost faultless - "Stand By Me" is a particular highlight - and this really shows The Jam were so much more than the sum of the parts.

Youri Egorov was a one off. A poetic, intellectual but deeply humane pianist. The music world was enriched by his art for a tragically short time but this box set provides a treasure trove of his greatest recordings. I cannot recommend this highly enough!

Well if you are a Slayer fanatic i would say that this is pretty much an essential purchase for you. Slayer are pretty much thrash gods and have reached a really cult status it would seem these days,and i was very pleasd to pick this up, it's not perfect in my eyes butt has great stuff on it for the real slayer fans. you have 4 discs which makes it pretty good value for money in my books,the first 2 being mainly a best of package from all their albums up until this release and their rarer to get hold of stuff like 'in-a-gadda-da-vida' and 'disorder' the cover they did with ice t for an album going way back. So it's nice to have the rarities there all in one and not having to drag the vinyl out and like the 'criminally insane' remix ... Read More:

This is a pretty comprehensive collection of Dylan - most best "best of" Dylans are simply too short to be comprehensive, but this is 3 discs of over an hour each. The only song missing, in my opinion, is Hurricane. However, though this is worth getting (for all the unreleased stuff if nothing else) please dont buy this and be done. Blood on the Tracks is the greatest record of all time, so many other Dylan albums are worth buying, so I would recommend buying them too.
