Buzzcocks first hit turntables with the manic totally brilliant punk ep 'Spiral Scratch'. Almost immediately Howard Devoto, lyricist, vocalist and all round intellectual dropped the group and his fake cockney accent to sit his exams before forming the excellent Magazine. Thus began Buzzcock's second phase chronicled admirably on this collection. Guitarist Pete Shelley took over vocal duties on the Shelley-Devoto composition 'Orgasm Addict' - a great masturbation record with a wonderful line about 'international women with no body hair'. After this Shelley took over the main songwriting burden (with some support from Steve Diggle). The songs remain literate and intelligent, but love songs become the order of the day. Already a classic collection of the Symphonies, the Concerto, and other works, this version adds a different recording of Symphony 5 as a bonus: well worth a hearing. It's also enhanced with interesting tidbits for PC, apparently, but I haven't been able to access them. Not too fussed: Rattle's right on the nose with the CBSO and the Phil. This contains the best version of the rarely recorded 3rd Symphony I've yet heard.

My 18 month old loves this CD set, from the modern TV inspired songs Tweenies & Teletubbies to the not so well known traditional nursery rhymes (that Mummy remembers!!) Great for travelling, with all the family singing along - even the older ones!!

Although the first four tracks on this set were not officially on the Tamla label, they were the first recorded at Berry Gordy's fledgling company. Starting with Marv Johnson, Gordy was building a company that would overshadow most of the majors of the day. This first box set in a series of twelve features quite a few gems that didn't make the charts, but it is in these first six discs that prove why Motown was the greatest independent record company ever. The music stations of the game are inclusive but the chat stations aren't! Those are also an important part of the game and especially the soundtrack! I think that's for me and I think many other fans too very important: for example in Vice City, Maurice Chavez with Pressing Issues, could you go without that? I wouldn't.

Lost and found BBC transcription discs provide new matter to one of the 4 CDs in this beautiful and informatively packaged '60s-'70s box set trove culled from its and band's archives spanning the earliest sessions by the first generation Fairport (a West Coast-influenced folk pop act) to the robustly English folk rock act if became best known for. Disc 4 contains the lost (poor quality its has to be said) recordings featuring original singer Judy Dyble with pleasures aplenty in her exquisitely piped takes, including earliest single, "If I Had A RIbbon Bow", and giggles aplenty in the period deejays' matey intros and back-announcements. It's easy to become cynical with Ki$$ who seem prepared to sell anything at any price. So for those of us who have already got the first 3 Alive albums all this collection really offers is the Millennium Concert CD. Or so it would appear. The whole thing is nicely packaged with a 72 page booklet with some great photos and interesting snippets about the albums. The first 2 Alive albums have now been fitted onto a single CD each (they were 2 CD releases). Which is great if you want to listen to the albums in the car without attempting a death defying CD swapping manoeuvre.
