I rank Paul Weller at the same level as Lennon/McCartney and David/Bacharach as a composer. This box set captures almost all his work with The Style Council who, along with the Smiths, were the greatest band of the 1980s. However it is not quite complete because it misses some great songs and in particular My Very Good Friend found on "Here's Some That Got Away". That album is a must buy.

I bought this multi-CD boxed-set as an 80th brithday present for my Dad. Maria Callas has long been his favourite female singer of all time. He says he's enjoyed long hours of listening pleasure from this set and can't recommend it highly enough!

I can't really count for all the cds, as I only have 3 of the collection, but the wave, flash and emotion are all worth the buy, they are awesome mixes of some of the best 80s tracks - though I couldn't help but notice a few of the tracks from the radio are missing?? eg. Joe Jackson's great 'Steppin' Out' is sadly missed from Flash! Did anyone else notice this? And is there a reason for leaving songs out??

Lionel Richie is in my top ten list of "Best Artists of All Times". I do have all his albums, which means I have all the songs on this collection here. No doubt, the best music you can find around and worth every cent, however, I have these songs and why not compile it in my MP3. I wont be buying it but if you like Lionel Richie and you do not own all his work, this collection will cover you and more. I have one complaint to make though; why isn't "Deep River Woman" on this album, this song is one of his best unreleased songs, I wonder ??

If you have been a long term roots reggae fan like me, you will know the vast array of material available in the market place doesn't always match the billing. This box set however, does exactly what it says on the tin and more. If you like your reggae crackly and rare, this is the one for you. New Town Sound limited steal the show with the bassiest, gruffest tune you will ever hear, however, most tracks on each of the 3 cds are classic rarities. Buy it, and don't look back, this is the real deal for those like the revival style.

Fashions come and go. From the latter years of the 20 Century the attempt to "recover" what Beethoven might have expected to hear through the use of copies of instruments in use at the time of composition and attention to (Czerny's?) metronome markings in the symphonic scores has has given us a current performing tradition of "lean and fast" Beethoven. This tradition is wonderfully well served on Sir Roger Norrington's complete set of the symphonies with the SWD Rundfunksorchest available on Hanssler (NOT the London Classical Players' set so temptingly cheap on Virgin!)and this would be my desert island set (it is easily available from Amazon though costs just over twice as much as the Klemperer discs. This CD caught my eye sitting on a shelf as it has such a beautiful album sleeve. I picked it up purely because it looked good, bought it because of the nice cover. Now from past exerience I can say that impulse buys like this are generally regrettable, but I have not stopped listening to this CD since I got it. Easily my album of the year, it has everything and spans across so many types of moods and genres. It has the amazing ability to chill you out, get you worked up, uplift you and break your heart all at the same time. Now im generally not a fan of chillout music, I can't concentrate long enough and get bored!
