I bought this CD because I was attracted by the variety of children songs on it. Almost all the ones I wanted to teach my kids were on it. I was rather disappointed, however, first by the icky electronic keyboard music that is rather annoying, and secondly (but mostly) by the singing: the children singing are sadly a very authentic representation of an ordinary English class, i.e. they sing as they can when they can, with enthusiasm, but certainly without proper rhythm and largely out of tune. Why didn't they just select the better singers, is the question that begs to be asked? It would have have cut down on the noise, which would in turn have made the lyrics more distinctly audible, and made the whole hearing experience decently enjoyable. Read More:

I've no idea if the "Mozart Effect" is real, or a bit of hokum. What is real is that these are lovely pieces of music that I can play and play again, and really enjoy, and my baby seems to really like them too. There's an 'active' CD and a 'rest' CD - the 'rest' one sends him off for a nap in a lovely calm manner. My boy has got enough teddies: after listening to this, I got my sister to get him a grownup classical CD for his first birthday (she got him Bach). I don't own any classical music myself, but am really glad to have got him started on lovely music now.
