Like "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol," the 1994 television version of "A Flintstone Christmas Carol" has the characters involved in a stage production of the classic tale by Charles Dickens. Actually that would be Charles Brickens, because this time around it is the Bedrock Community Theater. Wilma is the director and Fred is playing "Ebonyzer Scrooge," Barney is "Bob Cragit," Mr. Slate is the ghost of "Jacob Marbley," and Bam-Bam is Tiny Tim (some names are more sacred than others). The problem is that role goes to Fred's head in the worst way possible, which means Scrooge at the start and not at the end. I watched this film as a child, then as an adult, and it always amazes me. Another truly heart warming Christmas film! Richard Attenborough portrays a wonderful Santa Claus, with his remarkable acting skills! It does not matter what age you are with this movie, old or young, it will warm your heart at Christmas time, with a few laughs along the way.

The supporting actors are equally as good. Beautifully produced (it has a feeling of "Oliver" about it) with a somewhat mediocre score from Leslie Bricusse (with some notable exceptions). It does certainly bring "A Christmas Carol" to life and is well worth watching. A feel good movie.

My grand-daughter loves these DVDs - they soothe her when she's out-of-sorts, and help her settle when she needs to sleep. Great colours, lots of other children - simple but effective!
