Imagine snow on the ground, logs on the fire burning, christmas trees lit up and the cold breath of carol singers singing in the night. The CD is very evokative of Christmas past. Made me reminisant of my childhood (not that long ago). Best ever CD available for Christmas. The Choir (Guildford Cathedral) is amazing. Brings a tear every time i listen. The music from the BBC programme Box of Delights used track 3 for its theme tune. This CD is hard to get hold of. HIGHLY recomended.

Quite funny in parts with some clever musical numbers but is not really suitable for it's 12 rating. Perhaps the Board of Certification saw it was a cartoon and forgot about the profanity and sexual references. An animation for adults that is worth a look but with vastly greater alternatives.

I captured this on video some twenty years ago, but, unfortunately, missed recording the first five minutes. Never mind, it has been a perennial Christmas favourite. Despite the passage of years, it still comes out each December. In fact, if it were not for this film I would probably not have retained my video player! A month ago, I left my previous job and was rewarded with a multi region DVD recorder/player. I immediately sent off for the DVD via Amazon. I can now see the whole film!! The film is a marvellous evocation of a by-gone era, but one we would all like to still experience. The cast is consistently excellent, the musical accompaniment subtle, appropriate and totally unevasive, and the film captures the mood and spirit ... Read More:

A little jewel of a film! This movie was released with not much fanfare in 1983, but has developed a loyal following in the U.S. due to it's repeated airing on cable television. Such is it's cult following, that American cable network TBS regularly hosts a "Christmas Story Marathon" during which the film is shown for 24 hours straight, from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day! I moved to Ireland from America 6 years ago, and have searched in vain for this film to appear on the Christmas schedule of RTE, BBC, Sky or any of the other 500 channels on my system. Sadly "A Christmas Story" is virtually unheard of on this side of the Atlantic, and I soon realised that I would probably never see it again, unless I bought it myself. The film is great ...
