The sophomore slump hits Zero 7 in their second album, "When It Falls." Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns create a fairly pleasant mesh of downtempo jazz and trip-hop ambience, but their major failure is monotony -- there are few highs or lows in this pleasant if unmemorable album. The mellow montony of the well-named "Warm Sound" sets off the tone of the album, echoed in the vague "Over Our Heads," spacey title track, and mellowly uninviting "In Time." Unfortunately, these are the most likely to send listeners to sleep -- musically, they possess plenty of beauty and sweetness, and have a distinct polish. This is like nothing else I've heard, even from FSOL. I must admit I wondered what on earth I'd bought when I first heard it, but once I'd got to the end I got it. Swirls of ambient noise give way to some of the most beautiful electronic melodies you can imagine. It's got loads in common with classical music, you have refrains that pop in and out at various points throughout the album, in fact they even sample Pachabel's 'Canon in D' in 'Domain'. This isn't a pop record. You can't just stick it on whilst you wander round the house and expect to like it. It is wonderful to have a WHOLE listenable album of amazingly well crafted, chilled, sophisticated music by one group. I just love this album, Lebanese Blonde is one of the best chill out tunes of all time but there are some other truly great tracks on there.

Bought on a whim.....so glad I did as this is without a doubt the best album I've bought all year. Highlights for me - In The Bath, which is gorgeous. Staunton Lick (Everyone's favourite????) which is simply awesome. Page One - sublime Im definitely going to be looking up more LJ now

I'm a pretty big fan of Moby but I have never really got on with this album. It's almost as if he picked his favourite part of Play (the end Gospel bit) and stayed there. The result is an album that doesn't go anywhere and has none of the dynamism of earlier work. No matter how many times I listen I find it depressing and hard to enjoy. A real shame.

Ok, I don't like all the tracks but who has ever loved all the tracks on a CD? This is a great album with the right mix of tracks all relaxing in their own way. Beautiful!

I hadn't really heard any of Air's previous work before I watched 'The Virgin Suicides' but after hearing the haunting soundtrack and the eerie melodies that were so fitting to the film I just had to go out and buy this. It is captivating within itself and is an album that truly makes you think. As a soundtrack it works very well as it is filled with haunting tracks that just make you want to listen again and again. It will take you back to poignant times in your life and really make you think. I find the tracks so haunting and deep that while listening to them you can really reflect on your emotions and feelings. firstly i should probably say what kinda music i like: most things! and this is one of those rare albums which is amazing - every track is wonderful. this album, like moon safari, does not disappoint....and i dont really see a massive change in styles - its different to moon safari but its not so different that you would only like moon safari OR talkie walkie. i only got it this morning and ive now listened to it through 2 times and it is amazing. it has the beauty of cinematic orchestra but with air's unique electronica feel - a calm and masterful piece of work.

I couldn't bring myself to give this 5 stars despite feeling it definitely is one of those must have albums. Funky, down-tempo and perfect for lounging and entertaining as its extremely inoffensive to the ears. just downright soothing, will have you horizontal in no time. It's not a perfect album but should be in everyones music collection.
