I was very disappointed to find that Virgin/Veritas have not included the very full and interesting 68 page booklet, containing the libretto, essays and notes, which came with the original EMI publication.

I suppose writing a review of an album that is already five years old and has been enjoyed by many is rather like writing a report on the sinking of the Titanic. However, having only just purchased this CD, I feel I must share my comments. The St Philips Boys Choir - better known these days as Libera - create a unique sound on all their records. Having already bought their 'Libera' and 'Luminosa' albums, I had a fair idea of what to expect from 'Angel Voices 3'. I wasn't disappointed. Their use of 'close-mike' vocals is extremely effective, particularly on those tracks where a younger boy takes the solo. Their version of 'Mary's Boy Child' will make the tears flow and 'White Christmas' - including the little-heard verse, incidentally - will evoke memories ... Read More:

this was a good buy. quite different in sound to the way the originals were sung. the background vocals were excellent. quite surprised it was londoners who did the music cos it sounded like Americans. a good album to listen to when chilling with friends and family.

A truly enjoyable performance by The Sixteen. These 2 masses presented on these CD's are both moving and distinctively conducted by Harry Christophers. You must buy this if you are into Renaissance Masses especially with many Voices. You won't regret this!

I'm glad I bought this recording. Not only is it good value for money, with the "Coronation Mass" and the "Exsultate Jubilate" included, as well as the Litany K195, it's a fine performance of one of the most moving works ever written. It also has the added bonus of giving us the (I think) rarely heard edition by Franz Beyer, who "cleaned up" the more regularly performed Sussmayr version. Marriner and the Academy show their mettle to perfection here. If I have one quibble, it lies in the inexplicable arrangement of the items on disc one. Why place them in the order: Exsultate, then the "Coronation", then the Litany? The only reason I can conceive is that they were arranged from shortest to longest work, which doesn't make logical sense. Surely "Exsultate Jubilate" ... Read More:
