Given that it was first released a year after Deep Purple released In Rock, I had expected something with a bit more guts and oomph - although my expectations are obviously not the fault of Wishbone Ash.
Even so, I find the whole album just a bit too tame. The strong hippy/pacifist background theme of the album rubs off on the music and I find the resulting album just a little bit too pleasant and inoffensive.

The strength of the album - the vocal harmonies - remind me heavily in parts (particularly Blowin' Free) of Crosby Stills and Nash, and I would file them firmly in the drawer marked 'Easy Listening'. The melodies are excellent pretty much throughout, but lack any sort of edge.

Where I can draw a Rock comparison ... Read More:

I'm not particularly a Stones fan, but this is a suberb collection...... just about the whole album is quality, a must for any music lover.

Reviewing a best-selling, immensely popular album over 30 years after it was released is a bit like trying to evaluate Marmite. It's been around for ages, you know that people will always buy it, but everyone either loves it or hates it already, and there's little point trying to change their minds.

For me, Rumours is just about the best album ever made, and 'Go Your Own Way' is my favourite song, my desert island disc, the one that still sends a shiver up my spine and makes me smile and / or cry (or both) every time I hear it. Part of that is down to memories of earlier times evoked by the music (it just sounds like it came from better days, whether it really did or not); part of it is down to a knowledge of the intricate human relationships within the band ... looking for an overview of Buddy Holly's work? They don't come much better than this. We can all wish this one was in there or that, but someone somewhere had to make a decision on what went in and what didn't. The result is a good all round representation of the skill, the talent, the sheer joy that was Buddy Holly's music. It is hard to believe all this happened in just 18 months. If anyone ever left a legacy, he did.

This is the compilation which defines the most criminally overlooked rock band in history. One of the greatest songwriters of the late 20th century, backed up by a troop of amazing guitarists, with Gorham, Robertson and Moore blasting out riffs and, more importantly, some of the greatest guitar solos ever throughout each song on this compilation. This band is a monolith of rock music and thankfully this compilation shows this very well.

my only quibble is that perhaps this shouldve been called 'the very best of' or something like that. In that case southbound and massacre couldve been added too, as well as the rest of the black rose album. The packaging is great also, as well as the music, and the story of lizzy is presented inside along with some great photos of the band ... Read More:

In the beginning the way into Dylan was via Peter Paul & Mary, the Turtles, the Byrds and Johnny Cash.
And commercially electric Dylan was just right.
This CD is just a sampler and introduction to the Art of Dylan. If you want more you get the original albums on CD.All but one have been on catalog since CDs began.
My favorite Dylan song is Can you please crawl out your window.
Thus this double CD would only be of interest if there was a booklet with it and its by no means the only one of its kind as the most recent-titled DYLAN and in 3 different editions -comes with a picture book.
Today's Dylan collector needs plenty of money and plenty of room

Not his greatest album, but certainly not as bad as some of the reviews state, make sure you listen to it more than once, many of the songs grow on you.

Having been to see the live show, I've seen it mentioned that he only does a limited number of songs from this album and saying that obviously Bryan doesn't think this is a very good album, imagine if you went to his show and he didn't play any of the classics that we all love to hear!

Walk On BY is the stand out track for me and was performed in the live show, it was absolutely superb.

If your a fan of easy listening rock then I recommend this album.

Heathen Chemistry is probably Oasis' worst album. But that doesn't mean it's bad.

Many tracks are very average by Oasis standard, such as All In The Mind, Force of Nature, Better Man and Hung In A Bad Place. However, saying that, personally it contains some of Oasis best tracks.

The Hindu Times is a fantastic rocker that would perfectly fit on to Definitely Maybe. Great guitar rifts and a great chorus, it is real ballsy stuff. Other highlights include Liam Gallagher's Songbird, which surprised many by being an incredibly sweet soft nice little tune - something many would not associate with rock's and hardest frontman. He also contributes with the heavily influenced Lennon song Born on A Differen Cloud - a song that shows a far cry from the average Little James he wrote ... Read More:

The move was only around for a short period during that time they had many line up changes and morphed into the electric light orchestra.
This thoughtfully put together Anthology takes you from the first demos (You're The One I Need) by the move, Mod classics through to the final single `California Man'
The first disc covers the original line up Ace Kefford, Bev Bevan, Carl Wayne, Trevor Burton and Roy Wood, and includes `Night of Fear' `Fire Brigade' and `Flowers in the Rain' plus a host of songs from the first album.
Disc 2 dates from the `Something else' EP live show, now including Move originals and remixed into stereo for the first time.
Disc 3 takes in sessions from late 67 and 1968 and early 1969 where the band in quick succession lost Ace Kefford and Trevor Burton to ... Read More:

I must say, these past reviews make a very interesting read, particulary Mr Dooley's impertinent rant. I am in favour of all the people who have commented about what this Welshman has to say, we are supposed to be reviewing Bolan's music, not his lifestyle. I would be most suprised if this Arthur man was able to control his ego if he was subject to the same success that Bolan had. In Bolan's defence, I would like to point out that in the summer of 76, Bolan had slimmed down (though I fail to see why we should metion his weight) and released 'I Love to Boogie' one of my all time favorite songs. Marc Bolan was a fantastic songwriter and musician whose music has brought me through my childhood and into my teenage years.
