Check out the song titles. And what do you think Dana Gillespie might be singing about on this album?

Yes, you guessed right... there's a distinctly smutty tendency to these tunes, a delight in the double entendre and the odd hint of downright filth. But there's also some superbly understated blues playing, casually excellent singing and a real sense of fun. Some of the songs are blues classics and some are Gillespie originals, and without the sleeve notes you'll never tell the difference.

I think this album is a compilation from several earlier albums, and it's a corker. Buy it and enjoy...

This is a great genuinely live album in a way that Cheap Thrills isn't. I love Thrills but its studio augmented\dubbed\enhanced and misses the true buzz of a real live performance. This album buzzes. The accompanying booklet is a great potted history too - something missing from other Janis albums. There's 14 great buzzing tracks as opposed Thrills 7 (Okay - so two takes of Down on Me). It's raw, exciting, encapsulated in that moment of time and truly off the wall.

There's no delicacy here and sometimes Sam Andrew's vocal gets lost in the mix but never Janis' - hers storms out like a twister in a heatwave. Live versions of "Faster than Sound", "Flower in the Sun", "Magic of Love" & "Easy Rider". Shame there's no "Sweet Mary" ... Read More:

Koko Taylor's best record for many years, "Force Of Nature" is over an hour of tough blues, soul and R&B, and Koko Taylor at 63 has lost none of the power of her huge, growling voice.
She reinterprets Toussaint McCall's tender soul lament "Nothing Takes the Place of You" and Big Mama Thornton's "Hound Dog", and Tina Turner has nothing on Koko Taylor on Ike's R&B chestnut "If I Can't Be First".

There is plenty of genuine blues here as well, including a really good "Born Under A Bad Sign" with guest star Buddy Guy, and harpist Carey Bell guests on the excellent opening track "Mother Nature". The self-penned "63 Year Old Mama" is a powerful slow grind with some great piano playing and an awesome vocal performance by Taylor, and the ... Read More:
