Not on this album. Def leppard's second album is a rock master class which they would sadly never repeat after following a far more poppy direction with following albums (however to be fair `Pyromania' and `Hysteria' are excellent albums in their own right).

On this album Def Leppard wear their influences on their sleeves, one can hear shades of many classic 70's rock bands such as Thin Lizzy, UFO, Scorpions and of course AC/DC, who as other reviewers have pointed out are of particular influence to the early Leppard sound. Def Leppard have even stolen AC/DC's producer Mutt Lange for this album. However I would have to say this is not the `AC/DC tribute album' others have accused it of being as `High `N' Dry' is more polished sounding ... Read More:

Quite simply this is Blackmore and Dio at their best, not to mention fine contributions from the Bain-Powell-Carey trio. It was indeed Rainbow's classic line-up. Opening up with a powerful rendition of one of Rainbow's best songs, 'Kill the King' (after a fun 'Wizard of Oz' intro), they then move on to a terrific medley, the highlight of which is the Blackmore-Carey inspired 'Blues' piece. There are so many great performances on this album. The cover version of 'Mistreated' is way better than any version Deep Purple ever did but the creme de la creme has to be 'Catch the Rainbow'. This is a monster version of this track which includes a wailing Blackmore solo that must rate as one of his best. In the middle, the solo halts into momentary silence (you ... Read More:

After Ronnie James Dio's first album Holy Diver in his band "Dio", straight away comes back and makes another Classic Metal Masterpiece from the 80s. Dio and co. give one hell of a performance on "The Last In Line", some of my favourite songs are on here like "Evil Eyes", the superb title track "The Last In Line" which I think has a breathtaking intro & "Mystery". Dio always picks amazing guitarists for the band, the guitarist is the same one from Holy Diver so it's similar style(i'm not saying it sounds the same). The lyrics are fantastic, Ronnie James Dio's vocals are amazing as usual and everything else is great.

If you're a fan of heavy metal I suggest you buy yourself a copy of "Holy Diver" and then this album as they are a must ... Read More:

If not their best, certainly the heaviest - with a hard as iron production, noticeably heavier drumming and some strong riffs and full on metal lead breaks. Even the keyboards duel with the shredding on the title track!
Highlights:
Thunder & Lightning - Very fast for this band, with great drums & awesome solo's. Lynnott's on real form, voice & bass wise here!
This Is The One - Great rhythm and chorus. Addictive!
Cold Sweat - Another heavy one, up there with Killer On The Loose! A guitar riff very worthy of the mighty Judas Priest!
Bad Habits - a bit lighter, with a great vocal from Lynott.

Metal fans will find a lot of Lizzy too light, but many will like this for it's extra edge & power (especially for ... Read More:

Vault (1995.) Def Leppard's first hits compilation.

From their formation in the mid-late seventies to the modern day, Def Leppard has been one of the most consistent rock bands out there. From their days as part of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) to their days as a classic hard rock band in the eighties to their modern days as a pop-rock band, they rarely fail to please. It took them long enough, but at long last we have a Def Leppard greatest hits compilation. How does it measure up? Read on for my review of Vault.

PROS:
-If you're a very casual fan, and the big hits are all you're looking for, this might be enough for you. You get hits like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Bringin' On The Heartbreak, Rock Of Ages, Photograph, and many ... Read More:

Destroyer by kiss is their fourth studio album and was released in 1976 and was the album that launched them omwards although many argue that it was the previous years release of their live album called alive that did that and no matter what they were onto a winner regardless of what this sounded like, fortunately this is a good album with some strong songs but let down with some obvious enough filler and a muddy production that while not constant is most hurtful in the great track 'God of thunder'.
The album isnt as glammy as they would get and isnt as heavy as they could be but has a good time feel about it,although as per usual the lousy lyrics that appear at times can make or break how you feel about kiss so you have to see how that makes you feel.

When I first bought this album back in 1974 I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. This was the first outing featuring the twin guitar sound of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham so I expected something different, but I was surprised at how mellow it was. Ok so the band had changed direction before. In the Eric Bell era they went from a folk sound on the first two albums, to a heavier raw sound on Vagabonds so I guess I was anticipating hard rock here, but although it does contain a couple of heavier songs in Sha-La-La and Its Only Money, the guitars are played down somewhat with strings featuring on the title track and Dear Heart. This may have been due to the production of Ron Nevison which the band was allegedly unhappy with. There are also, what appears to be, a couple of fillers in Frankie ... Read More:

'Rocks' brings to fruition the style that Aerosmith developed on their first three albums. Its predecessor, 'Toys In The Attic,' is a masterpiece, despite a rather soapy closing track, but 'Rocks' is more consistent in style. It doesn't necessarily contain better songs, but it possesses a dirty, funky undercurrent. The titles do more than hint at the subject matter: 'Back In The Saddle' and 'Get The Lead Out' aren't about horses and dogs.
Unusually, for a great hard rock album, Joe Perry doesn't load the airtime with extravagant riffs. The trick is in the band being what is essentialy one big, sexual rhythm section. Steve Tyler rasps his way into the opening track as if to signify this. There is no 'Walk This Way' on 'Rocks,' but Aerosmith seem to have developed its emphasis on rhythm.
'Rocks,' ... Read More:

This album has always been underrated. The album peaked at 28 in the uk and 31 in Billboard. It has a fine balance between rock and soft rock. This is due to Ken Hensley who is responsible for most songs. The song Rain is an example of a fine tune. It is also heard on his solo album Proud words on a dusty shelf (1973). Ken is still recording great albums. When i first finished listening the songs i said WOW..this is great. I played the album at least a hundred times.
Spider woman could have been a hit single but in my view but they released sweet Lorraine and that was no sucess. Blind eye is my favorite song. It is a dark song with great lyrics. Overall the album feels "dark" and the tension is pushing it to a great level. The album ends with the great song "The magicians birthday". A fantastic album and 5 ... Read More:

Great album, let down by some lame copy protection which means that it isn't recognised by my computer so it can't be ripped for MP3 player listening.
