After having this CD for a couple months now I can truely say it is one of my Favorite Nazareth efforts. It rocks hard, some great mellow stuff and about track 3...The review about Liar on the American Amazon site by one meathead in particular proved how about 25% of us Americans have completely ignored the last 7 years of absolutely bad behavior and outright treason committed by that common criminal in The White House and his pals as they pillage and rape the treasury stuffing offshore bank accounts under the guise of some sort of religious belief that they are fulfilling Biblical prophesy. Anyone who is ok with that is just plain CRAZY!! Anywho..to me, from what I have seen, I agree with every word of Liar...time will tell. Love the quality ... Read More:

I recently got this after waiting for ages for if to come down in price!!! Been a huge Kiss fan since Love Gun, Double Platinum (late 70's!)and have over 60 Kiss albums in my collection, so was really chuffed at the prospect of demos, unreleased stuff, live versions etc, and I have to say, I have mixed views. How many times do they need to release stuff already available elsewhere! Surely this set should have been made up entirely of rarities etc?
Slightly disapointed but highlights include the demos and recordings from the early days, which are really cool to hear.
Packaging as always is superb- lots of cool pictures etc., but alot of the commentry stuff is already available in the book "Behind the Mask".
There has to be a "Box set ... Read More:

This is the without a shadow of a doubt The number of the great rock feast. I defy anyone to play this album without a scowl and a growl and an itch to raise mayhem.
Playing this album leaves me feeling invincible and starts the kids skidding round on the wooden floor playing air guitar as though their lives depended upon it.
This is an album to raise your kids on.
Tracks include:
The Trooper
The Number of the Beast
Can I Play with Madness?

I really love this, it's a pressie for valentine's day, but I'm quite keen to keep it!

Although it has mixed reviews in terms of packaging I like it. What you get it basically a patterned grey/black box. The lid lifts up on the top to reveal the spines of 5 CD cases and a CD shaped booklet. Each CD case contains 2 CDs and the track listings etc.

Marvelous.

Oh, and the music's pretty good too! ;-)

Deep Purple's third album brings a close to their first incarnation. While this line-up isn't as highly-regarded as the one that follows, it still impresses. Rod Evans wasn't quite up to Ian Gillan's standard, but his voice suited the band's style. Where they are lacking is in that dynamism and flamboyance that characterises later recordings. 'Chasing Shadows,' with its exotic rhythm, gets the album off to a good start, while 'Blind' features a great baroque performance on harpsichord by Jon Lord. Unfortunately, the quality is uneven from here on. Much of the album's worth hinges on their take on T.S. Eliot's 'cruellest month,' 'April.' It opens with some Gothic organ and a mildly haunting acoustic guitar line, but the strings in the middle section are drab and unnecessary. ... Read More:

The day was August 12th 2004. The location was the Birmingham Carling Acadamy. The band was Dio. I was at the front of the stage barely two metres away from the man himself. After two solid hours of non-stop classics from almost all of his albums plus the hummbling expearience of touching the hand of God, there was no doubt left in my mind. Ronnie James Dio is the king, the massiah and the ultimate saviour of Heavy Metal Rock n' Roll.
I bought Lock up the Wolves for two main reasons. One was for the title track, truely one of the greatest Dio tracks (Yes that includes any song from Holy Diver and the Last in Line) And the second reason was actually because the cover art is the coolest (The cover art for Angry Machines is second in my poll)
I may have bought ... Read More:

This is by far the best album Def Leppard have released - only it isn't an album; it's a collection of B sides and nearlys. Some great non-traditional Def Leppard tracks like Desert Song and Fractured Love as well as some good old rock tracks like Ride into the Sun and Ring of Fire. There's also a storming cover of an old sweet song - Action - and was released as a single. Ballads are not missing, buut don't be surprised to hear Miss You in a Heartbeat no less than three times on the album! I can't wait till the next B-side collection!

After sampling 'In Legue with Satan' off the great lightnin' to the nations compliaton CD I imediatly bout the first 3 Venom albums and I have to say their debut is the best of the 3 and an absolute classic slab of metal!

Now everyone says Venom are notorious for bad production and they are right, but I have a feeling it was semi-diliberate to try and achieve the heaviest sound they could muster and it pays off, this is a brutal album and must of sounded like pure noise back in 1981(!).

The album opens up on a surprisingly weak song 'Sons of Satan' but dont let that put you off, the title track is a stonecold classic, so much that Iron Maiden completly ripped off the main riff for one of their best songs '2 minutes to midnight', compare it, theres only ... Read More:

I'd listened to this LP as a teenager, and liked it a lot. But you can hear the difference between "Burn" in the studio and this Live recorded version. Not just because it's live, but the blurry performances. Paice is a powerhouse as always, but the fire of The Moody in black is missing. Say what you like about Blackmore, he gave the band the edge, and everything really good that they did usually came from him co-opting with his arch enemy Gillan. I like Mistreated and Burn, but the rest has "funky Glenn Hughes and David Coverdale" stamped all over it. Hughes' high vocal is an irritation, and he has become far more professional and a more rounded vocalist over the years. As has David Coverdale. RB would go on to fly Rainbow soon after, and DP would (in Jon Lord's ... Read More:
