This is undoubtedly one of the best Lizzy albums and indeed that last great one they did, after this we only saw/heard glimpses of Lynott's greatness. He was my hero growing up and this album was one of the reasons but it also shows the signs of the cracks that were starting to appear. Track selection is one bone of contention for me. I would've left off Sarah, it is a solo track not a Lizzy track, Get Out Of Here is filler and S&M is an interesting idea but not an album track and doesn't fit in here. Instead of these I would've added in Parisienne Walkways,
A Night In The Life Of Blues Singer, Dear Miss Lonely Hearts (the rocked up band version they occasionally played live), and last but not least I would add in King's Call this song ... Read More:

If this is the best then what's the worst like? Brilliant musicianship ruined by inane lyrics. Gets two stars by virtue of 'Don't Fear The Reaper.'

aerosmith the "bad boys" of rock and roll, the "toxic twins" steven tyler and joe perry the backbone behind aerosmith's success, them guys know how to write catchy tunes, on this two disc whirlwind of a rock history, you've got ballads and hard rockers from 80's aerosmith a beyond why no 70's aerosmith stuff included like so many aerosmith fans have ask, don't they think that any of there 70's material was any good? well some of it was rubbish but most of it was class..oh so they decided to put a live version of "dream on" which is better than the original but there could of been more room for more 70's material

buy these discs do have some ball breaking songs
dude looks like a lady, rag doll, dream on, eat the rich, what it takes...etc...

There is no doubt that Aerosmith's golden years were in the 70's with gems such as Toys In The Attic, Rocks, Draw The Line and the underrrated Night In The Ruts. Then the decline into drugs began along with the decline in sales.

Whilst Pump's predecessor Permanaent Vacation has some excellent songs, it is far more FM friendly, MTV orientated and commercial.

Pump is back to basics Aerosmith. It's starts Young Lust. Joey Kramer plays those drums as if his life depended on it and Tom Hamilton's bass thunders away, and Perry and Whitford are in brilliant form. Tyler sings with his usual innuendo laden way.

FINE is also a strong song and is followed up with Love In An Elevator; probably the best well known song on an album and brings back memories of Aerosmith's ... Read More:

This is an album much maligned by many of the rainbow purists who cant get over the departure of Dio but depart he did going on to do a stellar job with sabbath. Blackmore was wanting to go for a more commercial approch at this time wanting to hear his songs on the jukebox and stunned the rock world when he hired former marbles singer Graham Bonnet. Now you will probably read by many here that he was a bit of a misfit and was no replacement for Dio but truth be told the guy had an amazing vocal range, actually greater than Dio's, capable of pulling off the most extraordinary key changes and hitting notes such as F,G's in full voice! Bonnet's dynamic approch and macho tone makes this album a must have. He really shines on all the songs contained here and I wish he stayed with the band longer, it was always going ... Read More:

This album came out at about the same time as Appetite For Destruction and ( I'll whisper the next bit ) I preferred this . The boogy good time blues of Tyler , Perry and Co. was encapsulated on this album , and showed that there was room for a sense of humour in rock music . No particular highlight for me - the whole album's great .

Thin lizzys eighth album is a laid back album in parts,a relexed, self assured piece of work with a rock n blues formula running through it.
The album opens with the brilliant 'soldier of fortune' with a delicious riff raking through it,scott gorham whips his guiatr skills into a frenzy here and lynotts bass plucks like a madman, lynotts vocals here and throughout are very mellow and enchanting, trapping the listener with their authority and almost storylike formula.
The title track hurtles in next with some great drive in the riff and the drum playing here is excellent, brian downey is a skilled player and this is his masterpiece, the song is class as well.A very autobiographical song follows in 'Opium trail' which is about well, the title says it all, this song sends shivers dancing up my spine.Speaking of dancing,'dancing ...
