Great Album covering all eras of the band and the songs that were not singles but the best tracks on album which so many previous albums always missed out.

Dio Era - Just Awesome
Bonnet Era - The Singles and the other decent stuff from Down to Earth.
Turner Era - All the cheesies and Rockers

Really enjoyed this - A blast from the past that still Rocks.

He may be touchy but he couldn't half deliver the goods - Wake up Blackmore and get back on track!!.

I used to have Steppenwolf compilation on Vinyl - not this one - but it got mislaid somewhere. Didn't miss it too much. I was always disappointed that they mimed on "The Whistle Test", this was a vehicle for great live bands and they were supposed to be one of them. It left me feeling they were fakes but I recently caught John Kay & a reformed Steppenwolf doing a real live set and it was excellent. Made me look for a 'best of' again.

This compilation seemed to include most of the good stuff I had on the vinyl (although I'd hoped to get "Snowblind Friend" again - a sad omission) and a few other things I hadn't heard. It works well, nothing too exceptional but a good chunk of American nostalgia. The Pusher & Magic Carpet Ride have always ... Read More:

The last of Deep Purple's seventies albums to feature Ritchie Blackmore, this album is an uneven effort. Blackmore himself has never liked the album and stated so at the time of the record's release. When he chooses to apply himself, as on the fiery title track and the ballad 'Soldier of Fortune', the results are excellent. However, he is hardly in evidence at all on other songs and while Jon Lord and Glenn Hughes do their best to rally the troops, they have an uphill struggle on such lacklustre material as 'Love Don't Mean a Thing' and 'Hold On' (the first Purple original to lack a writing credit for Blackmore). Elsewhere, Glenn Hughes' vocal on 'Holy Man' is entertaining and the funk of 'You Can't Do It Right' holds the attention, but as a follow-up to the ... Read More:

So the real question was could Deep Purple really hack it. Okay they released 'Perfect Strangers' and it was good, they played at the return of the Knebworth Fair and despite the appalling conditions the show was fantastic. But now comes the difficult second album, just like any new band, the question is can they follow up initial success, with something of equal or better quality or was it just an exercise in topping up the pension fund?

Well no worries on that score this album is sheer unadulterated, classic Deep Purple, great lyrics, good riffs and superb musicianship. Standout track for me is 'Mitzi Dupri' but there are a fist full of great tracks on this album.

I would highly recommend this to any Deep Purple fan and any fan of ... Read More:

This is the Iron Maiden album that divided the fans, there bound to be at least one album of every band that does that. Sadly I wasn't there when Iron Maiden & Heavy Metal bursted fastly into the 80s when music was creative exciting and sometimes brutal etc Slayer. I've been an Iron Maiden fan since 2006(i'm only 17) and I have all Iron Maiden albums, a couple of the live ones(surprisingly not "Live After Death" will get it soon). I first bought Iron Maiden latest album "A Matter Of Life And Death" out of luck which to be honest blew me away, after that I bought their whole back catalogue and love every one of their albums. In my opinion their weakest albums are "The X Factor" & "Virtual XI" still great albums(to me) but lack the sheer brilliance and excitment ... Read More:

I thought i was the only one who had heard of this album, it sounds like the band was going somewhere, good line up, dirty guitars with coverdales blues coming through. I would of liked to see what the next album would sound like, yeh tommy and drugs don't mix but what history was made with this.... propably the most under rated recording in the world

I find this album so enjoyable. It is a grower. You just cannot pick holes in Phils music, everything he does is brilliant or close to,and he seems to do it in a natural and effortless way it really does take your breath away at the mans brilliance. There is a good feel and a warmth to this album and you cannot but help being in a good mood after listening to it, more so than on Black Rose the previous album.I have listened to some of the bad reviews on this album and my advice is give it a chance .Phil was a proud man and his pride would never allow himself to produce a bad album.I find it vibrant, honest and innovating throughout.5 stars and forever unequalled.

There are a few albums that personify my youth and this is one of them. Pyromania is a classic album, ahead of its time and there isn't one duff track. Many believe that its successor, Hysteria, is superior, but although it is a fantastic album, I found it more quantity than quality.

This album though just rocks, and it really did come to characterize the '80s. Released in 1983, it was a massive success in the USA, but, for some reason, UK audiences took time to catch on to its class. Only Michael Jackson's Thriller album sold more copies in the States.

From the opening Rock, Rock ('Til you drop), through to the haunting Billy's Got a Gun - via the way of live standards Photograph, Die Hard the Hunter and Rock of Ages - Pyromania just oozes style, riffs, ... Read More:

1981 - a very fertile year for rock! Following their last album "Difficult to Cure" came as a
relief and a revelation to Rainbow fans, having taken on the brilliant young vocalist Joe
Lynn Turner this album rates as my favourite post - "Rising" effort by the band - sound
quality, song quality, and the addition of Bob Rondinelli on drums, Ritchie sounds very very
pleased indeed with his "new" band! - even elaborating big-time on his classical aspirations
in the shape of an amazing tribute to Van Beethoven on the title track to the tune of
the "Ninth" symphony. This will interest Prog fans I'm sure, but there are some great songs
that accompany this little masterpiece!

"I Surrender" was the big hit from this album, the liquid ... Read More:

Great Whitesnake album, stand out tracks for me are, Slide It In, Slow An' Easy, Guilty Of Love, this is the original U.K. mix that features Mell Galley and Micky Moody on guitar, it sounds like the classic Whitesnake rather that the Americanized Whitesnake of today
