Shedding the restrictions of popular song structure, the stream-of-consciousness musical hurricane of the 5th and final Crass studio album is only matched by the uncompromising, incantatory polemic around which it rages.

For me 'Yes Sir, I Will' is the pinnacle of their work, however if you're just starting out with Crass you should have a go at the albums in order i.e. Feeding of the 5000; Stations of the Crass; Penis Envy; Christ - The Album; Yes Sir, I Will

At least listen to the the first three before this one anyway - experiencing the progression is important in how the the political intent behind the structure of 'Yes Sir...' is perceived. It's simple and not exactly a new idea to subvert form in this manner but ... Read More:

Although a lot of the Sex Pistols CD's out there repeat the same songs over and again, Raw's slightly different in that it contains less covers and more of the original material written by the band. The sound hasn't been cleaned up as much and sounds a lot more real, and Rotten's voice shines out. The version of Pretty Vacant on this CD is excellent, as is Submission, and Anarchy in the UK sounds great on any album. In fact, I pretty much love all the tracks on here, hard pressed to pick a favourite really. All in all, a good solid Pistols album and good value really.

This album followed Iggy's best 2 albums since the late 70s (Brick By Brick and American Caesar) so although it has its moments it was pretty depressing. Opener I Wanna Live is pretty good, though not truly great if you are foolish enough to compare it to Iggy's greatest achievements. But it blasts in on a decent riff with Iggy almost sounding like he's trying to imitate Alice Cooper - not a criticism. The lascivious, thoroughly un-PC but in no way nasty Pussy Walk is one of Iggy's spoken word efforts over a jaunty, swinging riff, with sung choruses; it's by far the best thing on here (in fact one of the best things he's done in the last 30 years) and very funny. Shoeshine Girl has some nice Black Mountain Side-esque acoustic guitar, a good tune and decent lyric and is only ... Read More:

As a Jam fan I purchased several of their CDs in order to replace my vinyl collection. SNAP is an excellent album it is therefore unfortunate that some of my favourite tracks are absent on the CD version. Quite why this should be the case I don't know and had it not been for this the rating would be higher.

well, lol.. this is it, seminal stooges who just didnt care at all anymore, iggy on the radio, invited loud mouth bikers to come down to the gig to fight, and they did...! the music is raw, bloody and totaly out of control..! some great songs here to keep you gasping to see what will happen next, full of abuse and violence, again its music yer mama and papa never wanted you to hear. stooges were great songwriters, and with iggy to portray them it was even better..!

its what rolling stone and nme never wanted to print, some of these songs go up and some go down, yes, lots of you wont like some of them.. but its a weird selection from a drug fuelled band, who didnt really care if you liked them..! the stooges didnt care if you liked their songs, but they cared that ... Disc one is a copy (minus one song; "Face") of the previous released Friday the Thirteenth. A beautiful registration of the Stranglers mark II (minus Hugh Cornwell but with John Ellis on guitars and vocalist Paul Roberts) at the Royal Albert Hall in 1997 with the addition of the Electra strings. A beautiful concert with stunning new arrangements and inventive use of the strings is the result.
Disc two is a mix of studio material from the albums About Time, Written in Red and Coup de Grace, recorded in 1995-1998. The material on these records is ok but unfortunately not as stunning as the stuff the Stranglers made in 1977-1983.
Higlights such as the beautiful Wonderful Land, the single that never was Money and the introspective waltz The Light are mixed with second rate rock'n ... Read More:

Like those cheesy new bank and car ads? Wanna know where the tunes came from? Feel old and depressed watching the last vestiges of alt culture being sold down the river? That's the New Amerikan Century for yer kids. Most of The Ramones are dead for crying out loud.. The once cool kids from college are now pimping for Saatchi. Its 'The End of the Century.'

This is the real thing, the raw material. Throw out that Shite Wipes/Stwokes quirky formulaic mediocrity. Buy this record, help Iggy gas up the Rolls Royce and go tooling around Miami beach in his old age, Lord knows he deserves it.. A f@ck off classic record from the days when. 'Its good in the jungle..'
