Indeed, look at all those peaches. Each and every one is oozing precious juice that will slake your thirst for fine and innovative rock fruit.

There's a couple ("Something Better Change" and "All Day & All of the Night") that are not as ripe as the others, but the rest are firm and brightly coloured with brilliant hooks, imaginative arrangements, and marvellous lyrics. Make sure that you choose the most tasty peach of all, by lucky chance called "Always The Sun".

Tracks one to seven cover the EMI/United Artists years, whilst the remainder cover the band's move to Epic.

Chances are you are already a Stranglers fan hoping against hope that this album has finally been released on CD. Well it has. However, if you're not a Stranglers fan but a seeker of genuine curios (like Van Dyke Park's 'Song Cycle' or Comus's 'First Utterance') then you have certainly stumbled across the right place. The film to this soundtrack by Stranglers keyboardist Dave Greenfield and bassist JJ Burnel apparently never saw the light of day. Now that sounds promising, doesn't it? You know it does. The music is an extraordinarily eclectic journey through early 80s electro-pop, kitschy retro 60s pop, spoken word pisstake, Erik Satie-influenced minimalism and post-Krautrock electronica. But knowing those Stranglers boys, as hopefully you do, you ... Read More:

The Damned are without doubt one of the best bands to come out of the original punk movement. This is because they knew how to write great songs, from Brian James raw writing on the first 2 albums through the brilliant Machine Gun Etiquette, The Black Album and Strawberries where Captain's influence comes to the fore. On Strawberries, The Damned seemed to be at a songwriting peak and found many new fans. There really isn't a bad song on the album, maybe songs that the fans wanting a harder sound may have found too soft but for those there are songs like Ignite. However, the brilliance of songs like Stranger On The Town, Gun Fury, Badtime For Bonzo and Under The Floor Again make this album one of their best. Not as raw as Damned Damned Damned or the punk ... This album, released at about the same time as John Lydon's Public Image Limited started making waves, has now been enhanced by the addition of two tracks. The music displays a similar late 1970's reggae influence. The sound is quite singular for the immediate post-punk era and has a surprising melodic appeal.

My favorite tracks include Instant Hit, New Town and Typical Girls, which should all have been hit singles as they're quite catchy and accessible. There's a dub feel throughout although to me this music is more pop than anything else. Intelligent pop, that is, with strong and sometimes angry lyrics.

It's a very valuable album that has proved influential down the years, in a sense, predating the Rrriot girrl phenomenon by more ... Read More:

The Wipers are amazing. I first heard of them through nirvana. There sound is very similar to thr whole grunge scene. Niravan had done a number of covers including the amazong "D-7" which is my favorite song ever.
Even though the wipers first began in 1979. They werent seen as cool at the time, the start of punk was used to fairly short songs. while the "youth of america" is ten miniutes long. However, it wasnt until later ablums started to sell that people began to notice the greatness of the wipers earlier ablums.

The first ablum "is this real?" is in my opinion the best ablum ive heard in a while. Classic songs such as "Potential Suicide" and "Mystery" stand out, but no song on this ablum is weak they all have there own greatness about them.

When this album first came out it annoyed a quite a few Stranglers fans and probably still does. Everyone (including myself) expected a bunch of aggressive pop songs. The first single 'Thrown Away' was quite low key in comparison to what had been released up until then. I was intrigued, gave it a good listen and then moved away.

It was only on it's re-release on CD that I gave it another go. This album has an importance and significance that was simply overshadowed by what had come before. Heard on it's own terms this album really shines out as something of a masterpiece.

I've given it 5 stars because it really is a 'fantastic' album both in terms of it's subject matter and it's sound. It displays everything that made the Stranglers great but ... Read More:

For many, "Inflammable Material" was Stiff Little Fingers' best recording - after all it was their thunderclap of a debut album. I can see their point - "Alternative Ulster" and "Suspect Device" and all that. However, for me, "Nobody's Heroes" was the superior product. Granted, maybe it was "Give'Em Enough Rope" to "The Clash" in that it was more polished, production-wise, with longer, better crafted songs and it lacked that edgy roughness of its predecessor. Having said that though, the songs are great, from the bass intro to "Gotta Getaway", through the autobiographical "story of the band" in the evocative "Wait And See", to the tub-thumping "Fly The Flag", the barnstorming "At The Edge" and the anthemic "Nobody's Heroes". What a side one the old record had.
