In my opinion: quite simply the best album ever produced. Crass at their best with 3 sides ( as it was on the vinyl version )of pure impassioned protest with some gems of musically brilliance ( I've always felt that Crass's creative ability was never fully appreciated by enough people).
Every track is a classic even the live side of the album is a valuable document of Crass's live sound and ideas at the time.
Essential listening and even better with cd quality.

Most of the Tracks are cut from the Roundhouse with a few from Battersea Park, its in your face and all solid Stranglers, misses the heartbeat of the Hope and Anchor and does not carry the feel of being at the Roundhouse seeing then doing it but a great slice of Punk not to be missed.
Dagenham Dave at the Roundhouse on 4th Nov 2007 would be just great.

The Gun Club's `The Las Vegas Story' is one of my favourite albums from the 1980s- I have been gutted since my lovely tape copy (with bonus track Secret Fires) fell apart a few years ago.

The Gun Club had already been through a few incarnations, their late great leader Jeffrey Lee Pierce present and correct. Following the classic `Fire of Love', `Miami', and `Death Party' releases the band settled down with the classic union between Pierce and guitarist Kid Congo Powers. Powers had been in an earlier version of the Gun Club known as Creeping Ritual and had been taught to play by Pierce, co-writing `For the Love of Ivy' on `Fire of Love' prior to Powers joining the Cramps for the classic `Psychedelic Jungle' & `Smell of Female' releases. ... Back in the day the Adverts were all too-oft dismissed as amateurish horror-comic punk - even by the likes of the NME. But despite limited musical prowess they still managed to pack plenty of drama into their songs to give a decent show case to TV Smith's songs and some of the best lyrics of the time. Best known for the rip-roaring B-movie schlock of 'Gary Gilmore's eyes' (not on the original LP but included here)there was plenty of other great imagery on 'New Church', 'Drowning men' ("... we're the subterranean vandals..."), On The Roof, 'Bombsite Boy', 'No Time To Be 21.' And best of all the monumental 'Safety In Numbers', a knowing, worldly-wise, sneering classic comment on what had become the 'punk scene.' For those of us who loved them at the time their rehabilitation ... Read More:

My only criticism of this majestic piece of work is that it hasn't got the original cheap red sleeve that I remember so well! What a great record, I bought it because my dreadful 70's quality tape of the vinyl was giving up the ghost. Doesn't seem quite right having it on CD as it really is a classis vinyl album. Raw, energetic, fresh, vital and totally exhillirating.Sounds like the later buzzcocks before production got a look in. On the scale of arty vs (allegedly)working class this flies the black flag for arty. Intelligent, witty, it sums up for me my punk schooldays in the 70's and the changeover from flares to drainpipes. Nostalgia certainly enhances it, but nonetheless if you are looking for a taste of original punk rock away from the London scene this is it. The tracks? I love ... Read More:

Quality band. Quality album. New Rose, Neat Neat Neat, etc. Carlsberg don't make Punk Albums, but if they did, this would be it. Possibly the greatest LP commited to vinyl (or CD as it's called nowadays). The Damned were the first and the best Punk band. Play it LOUD at your sister.....or anyone else!

Originally released in 1977, as I first assumed it was Iggy's first solo effort. Turns out to be a collaboration between Iggy and former Stooges guitarist James Williamson. Tracks here I personally thought made the grade were the wailing title cut "Kill City", "I Got Nothin' ", the classic "Johanna", "Consolation Prizes" and "Lucky Monkeys". Took me awhile to finally land down a copy of this proto-punk gem but it was WORTH the wait. Personnel: Iggy-vocals, James Williamson-guitar, Scott Thurston-bass, keyboards & harmonica and Brian Glascock (Motels)-drums. A definite should-have.

Siouxsie and the Banshees left behind an incredibly impressive body of work which is ripe for re-discovery. Albums such as "juju" and "A Kiss In The Dreamhouse" have lush textures, sparkling pop brilliance and intense song writing, all wrapped up in a dark and mysterious mood.

However, "The Rapture", their final album, is not one of those albums. Sounding slightly tired and deflated, the Banshees ground to a halt after releasing an album that shows, in no uncertain terms, why they needed to stop. There is nothing particularly offensive about these songs, and that is the central problem with them: where the Banshees used to RAGE and HOWL and SCREAM, now the just wheeze.

Even a collaboration with John Cale as producer couldn't recapture the magic, and in my opinion, ... Read More:

When I reviewed the original album I said it was 'perfect' and thankfully they hadn't added anything cos how can you improve on perfection? Well the great thing about this is they HAVEN'T messed around with the original, just added a disc with the superb Peel sessions. Genius! :o) Im a very happy man! I agree with the reviewer above though, 'Voices' would have made this complete....... shame.

I bought this last year despite owning the original albums and I have to say it was money very well spent. If you are hesitating as I did my advice is just buy it! The sound quality is quite superb, Weller's performances on some of the stuff not previously released are almost faultless - "Stand By Me" is a particular highlight - and this really shows The Jam were so much more than the sum of the parts.
