You really can't fault the selection of tracks here (with the possible exception of the Ritchie Family, which made me laugh out loud on hearing it for the first time here). Classics all, and not always the obvious ones. But as someone who loved every second of these tracks when I first bought them on 7-inch vinyl, it was incredibly frustrating to find that the tracks overlap very slightly, so you lose those ecatatic moments at the start and finish of many of them. The cue points at the start of each track are sloppy too, so you catch the end of the previous one even if you wanted to skip it. This album does exactly what is says on the tin - its funky, rock tinged Psychedelic soul at its best! After a decade of mostly romantic smoochy songs, often written by Smokey Robinson, the Temps entered the 1970s with a bang! Norman Whitfield took over the reins & tapped into the hippy & black power emotions running high at the time & the Temps turned out some of their very best work. I only recently got into WT after seeing them support Iron Maiden at Twickenham and this was the first album I bought. It is quite simply brilliant. Comparisoms with Evenescence are unwarrented as WT are in a different league. This album is an excellent place to start but the earlier ones are brilliant as well (especially Mother Earth). the music also transcends the generations as all my 3 teenage boys have become WT fans as well has many of their freinds at school. Buy this album if you have any interest in melodic rock - you won't be disappointed.

A 2CD retrospective of mostly singles, some in album-length versions, and for once nearly always in stereo. The mono tracks, from 1964-1969, are Ain't Too Proud To Beg, You're My Everything, The Way You Do The Things You Do, Since I Lost My Baby, Run Away Child, Running Wild (single version) and Please Return Your Love To Me, and as usual there is no indication of this for the prospective purchaser. This is especially frustrating since stereo versions of all of these have been available and most have turned up before in stereo on budget compilations. There's no way you haven't heard of Earth Wind & Fire, but you might only know their floor-fillers such as Let's Groove and Boogie Wonderland (with The Emotions). However, if the admittedly cheesy image of this talented group doesn't put you off, you will be rewarded with exquisite funk and tunes you'll be humming for days.

I remember a dreamy summers evening with 'a friend' and hearing a Barry White track called "Girl It's True, Yes I'll always Love You". For over 30 years I still continue to play it and it still raises the hair on my neck. Yes Barry had his own style - critics may use words like 'mushy' and 'over done' and 'drawn out' but have they listened to all of his work ? This album also contains another strong favourite of mine "Never, never gonna give you up" - what a fabulous intro. For those who may only be familiar with "You're The First, The Last etc" and "Love's Theme" - which tends to be the only hits of his that continues to get air play - then don't just 'try out' ... An excellent purchase. All the Billy Ocean tracks you really need (some other "best of" or "collections" don't feature ALL the essential hits, but this one does). Great to realise how many hits and brill tunes Billy Ocean released. As he is soon to tour again, I fully expect this CD to be re-released at a more expensive price, so get in there soon!
