On this album Luther was on top form. Vocally its a strong performance with his voice as smooth as silk. Yet for me what stands out most is his excellent production skills. He really makes the songs jump out of the stereo. The songs are mainly up-tempo and have rich bass lines that will really get you tapping your feet. This album boosts some of Luther's greatest songs, such as the title track and "See Me". In fact its a bit of a mini greatest hits collection with 7 out of the 9 tracks being released as singles (5 hit the top 40). Overall well worth a look whether your new to Luther or looking to build up your collection.

I first heard the amazing voice of Teddy Pendergrass on a compilation album. The track 'Turn off the lights', to use a metaphor, just rocked my boat. Then, out of the blue there was the theme music for muller yoghurts on T.V, which used the theme from Love T.K.O, which of course is on this album too (and i thought wasn't too bad). So i gave this album a go! Like 'Seal' had to find fame under the guise of 'Adamski', Teddy too was the voice behind another act more commonly known as 'Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes'. I love this album sooo much!!!I am a huge, huge fan and I brought this album after watching the Marvin Gaye DVD, 'Live in Amsterdam: 1976' a few years ago. He gave a live performance of 'All the Way 'Round' and I just fell in love with the song so I decided to buy the whole album and I was not dissapointed. The album has been put onto my ipod and has been played constantly!!Marvin is at his sensual best and its just a very smooth and chilled album. I know its classed as a lovers album but I just enjoy playing it when I want to relax as the songs are very mellow.I love 'All the Way Round', 'Since I had You' and 'I Want You' the most but all the songs have their charm. This is a wonderful set of songs which show off Natalie's singing talents brilliantly. The songs are quite traditionally done with a big band orchestra, but natalie's sweet voice always shines through. The highlights of the album are the beautiful ballads, the melencholy 'Lush Life' and the superb medley of 'for sentimental reasons, tenderly, Autumn Leaves'. The upbeat tracks that shine through are 'Orange Coloured Sky' and the brilliantly arranged 'Almost Like Being in Love' This album I feel will apeal to most tastes, especially those who love the songs of Nat King Cole. In the late 70's and early 80's Atlantic Starr released some of the classiest soul of the era. Songs like 'When Love Calls', 'Circles', 'Silver Shadow', 'Love Me Down' and 'Secret Lovers' remain to this day classics of the genre. This compilation, I'm glad to say, has been very intelligently compiled and genuinely includes some of the groups very best tracks. Apart from the aforementioned classics this CD includes two of the groups killer Sam Dees penned ballads in 'Send For Me' and 'Am I Dreaming' which are both dead slow southern soul at it's best (as anyone who's ever heard of Dees will know!) I hadnt heard of anita baker until my wedding day. My husband had "giving you the best that i got" dedicated to me. The words are fabulous, since then i have listened to many of her songs, a fantasic singer.

I don't have much time for music that goes under the banner of disco, soul, etc., but occasionally those genres throw up something that I can't ignore. I've always had a liking for the title track of this album and, knowing that Benson is a renowned jazz performer and that he has some of the best assistance possible here, I took a chance. What a delight. Benson's jazz background shows up regularly, but 'Give Me The Night' is no less accessible an album. It has strong songs, such as 'Star Of The Story', great grooves and classy arrangements, courtesy of Quincy Jones. Perhaps 'Love X Love' is a touch too mild for an opening track, but 'Off Broadway' certainly kicks off. I'm not so sure Benson did anything as good as this 1980 album again. Later songs ... These ARE JBs greatest hits. There are several other best of compilations out there but this covers all bases. James Brown was absolutely fantastic and unique. If you haven't listened to much of his music this is the perfect place to start, don't hesitate.

Lionel Richie is in my top ten list of "Best Artists of All Times". I do have all his albums, which means I have all the songs on this collection here. No doubt, the best music you can find around and worth every cent, however, I have these songs and why not compile it in my MP3. I wont be buying it but if you like Lionel Richie and you do not own all his work, this collection will cover you and more. I have one complaint to make though; why isn't "Deep River Woman" on this album, this song is one of his best unreleased songs, I wonder ??
